Chapter 830 Then He's Really Lucky
As Evelyn walked into the restaurant, Joshua was already waiting there. He waved her over and said, "Hey, come and have a seat here. Food's almost here."
"Sorry, I'm late," Evelyn said, sliding into the seat across from him.
Joshua smiled and said it was fine. He didn't ask how she got there; he had seen Dermot drop her off from his seat by the window.
Despite knowing Evelyn was meeting him for dinner, Dermot had still brought her over. Joshua wondered if anyone else could be as generous as Dermot.
Soon, the waiter brought out the dishes, all of which were Evelyn's favorites. "Dig in. I hope you like it."
"Thanks." Evelyn didn't hesitate; she was starving after a busy afternoon.
They ate in silence for a bit. Evelyn was impressed. "It tastes good. How'd you find this place?"
"I passed by and saw that it was always crowded, so I figured the food must be good. I thought I'd bring you here to try it," Joshua said, serving her more food, clearly pleased.
Evelyn thought he had a knack for finding good restaurants. With so many restaurants in the city, she wouldn't know where to start.
"Think Eugene will get the death penalty?" Joshua asked casually.
Evelyn shook her head. "The victims were seriously injured, but no one died. So the court will probably sentence him to life imprisonment. Of course, that's just a guess. It won't be decided anytime soon.."
Joshua's eyes darkened for a moment, but he quickly masked it. "He's lucky."
"Yeah, the Roberts family got him a lawyer, saying he didn't mean to kill anyone, which is why he used a less powerful bomb," Evelyn said, chuckling at the absurdity. She figured Eugene didn't know any better.
Joshua laughed and served her more food. "Let the cops handle it."
"Yeah, it's out of my hands anyway." In a country governed by law, there wasn't much she could do about Eugene.
They continued eating and chatting. When they finished, Evelyn thought it was time to head back, but Joshua pulled out two tickets from his bag.
"There's a concert nearby. Do you want to go? We can walk off the meal," Joshua said.
Evelyn laughed. "Walking off a meal at a concert? Only you could come up with that."
"Just say if you want to go or not," Joshua said, smiling warmly at her.
Evelyn glanced at the tickets and, after a moment, nodded. "Sure, let's see if a concert helps with digestion."
"Great, it's nearby," he said, reaching for her hand as they started walking.
Feeling his hand, Evelyn tensed up. She smiled and gently pulled her hand away.
The atmosphere got a bit awkward. Evelyn regretted agreeing to the concert, thinking she should've just gone home.
Joshua didn't seem bothered. He kept smiling and walked leisurely with Evelyn towards the concert venue.
