Chapter 1048: Forget I Said Anything
Evelyn and Dermot stood on the second floor, watching the scene unfold.
"Think Lydia's got a shot?" Evelyn sighed, wondering why a good girl like Lydia was so hung up on Craig.
Dermot sighed too. "It's tough. Craig's not the type to fall easily or give up easily."
Even if Ruby ended up with Alex, Craig wouldn't back down.
And Ruby wasn't even with Alex yet.
"Why don't you talk to him?" Evelyn didn't want Craig bothering Ruby and thought Lydia was perfect for him.
Dermot got her point but said, "Evelyn, you can't force love."
"Just try to talk some sense into him, so he's not so stubborn," Evelyn said.
Dermot nodded. "I'll talk to him."
But he knew it probably wouldn't change much.
Evelyn glanced at the room on the second floor. Luke and Benjamin had been in there a while. "Think something's up in there?"
"Probably not; Bruce is still in there," Dermot said, standing by out of concern.
Just then, the door opened, and Luke pushed Benjamin out. Seeing Evelyn and Dermot, Luke wasn't surprised. "Mind if we join the party?"
Luke figured since he'd helped Dermot a few times, it wasn't too much to ask.
"Go ahead," Dermot waved indifferently. He didn't care if two more people joined; he'd just treat them like strangers.
So, two more joined the party.
Evelyn said, "You check on Henry. I'll go downstairs and chat with them."
"Okay," Dermot knew she felt a bit awkward.
Evelyn went downstairs and approached Ruby. "Not home with your parents today?"
"I had dinner with them, then came out for some fun," Ruby smiled. Her parents had practically pushed her out the door.
Ruby wasn't that young anymore. Despite their issues with Craig, her parents wanted her to find a good partner. It was their biggest concern now.
"When are you introducing Alex to your parents? They'd love him," Evelyn thought Alex was the perfect son-in-law.
Ruby rolled her eyes. "Why would I bring him home?"
"To get your parents' opinion," Evelyn suggested.
Ruby wasn't having it. "You're older than me and not in a rush. Why should I be?"
"Fine, forget I said anything." Age was a touchy subject, after all.
