Chapter 1037: You Should Worry About Yourself First
After washing the veggies, Niall took Evelyn and Lily out to the snowy garden. Evelyn found the scene beautiful.
While they played in the snow, Dermot called out from his garden next door. The two villas were separated by a small alley, so they could see each other clearly.
Evelyn walked over and asked, "Are you making dinner?"
"Yeah, the butler's on it," Dermot replied. It was just him and Henry at home, so dinner was simple. He wished Evelyn could join them.
Evelyn felt a bit guilty knowing it was just the two of them. "Thought about inviting Luke and Benjamin?" she asked.
Dermot scoffed, "Why should I? They're not family."
"Alright then," Evelyn said, dropping the subject.
"What about you guys? I see you're all playing outside. Is Aidan cooking?" Dermot guessed, knowing Aidan could cook.
Evelyn nodded, a bit embarrassed. "Niall and I can't cook, so Aidan's handling it."
"Well, in the future, you have me," Dermot said with a smile.
Evelyn was momentarily stunned. "What do you mean 'you have me'? Who said I needed you?"
Dermot chuckled and didn't push it further. "How about you all come over for a New Year's Eve party after dinner?" he suggested, hoping Evelyn would come.
Evelyn didn't agree right away. "I'll check with them first," she said, thinking Joshua might not be keen.
"Okay," Dermot nodded.
As they talked, Aidan called from the kitchen, "Evelyn, come help."
"Okay," Evelyn responded, giving Dermot an apologetic look. "I have to go help now. You should go keep Henry company."
"Alright," Dermot said, watching her walk away before heading back inside.
Niall followed Evelyn and asked quietly, "Does Dermot live next door?"
"Yes," Evelyn nodded.
"He didn't move here on purpose, did he?" Niall asked, suspicious of Dermot's motives.
Evelyn thought for a moment and didn't reply.
Niall took her silence as confirmation. "What's he up to? Keeping an eye on you and Joshua?"
"Niall, why are you so curious?" Evelyn asked, though she understood Dermot's intentions.
Niall quickly replied, "I just want to know, do you like Dermot or not?"
"Niall, worry about yourself first. I don't want you and Aidan ignoring each other every time we meet," Evelyn sighed and walked toward the kitchen.
Niall was speechless. Watching her walk away, he muttered, "Do you think I want to? It's not like Aidan isn't always against me."
It wasn't really being against him, just being unhappy that he was still with Lily.
