Chapter 156 Do You Want Me to Let Her Go?

Dermot lifted his injured arm slightly and said to her, "There are people from my grandfather at the mansion. He is too old, and I do not want him to worry about me.”

"Actually, you don't have to move out..."

"It's okay, living in the mansion area is also fine, just a bit far from work," Dermot smiled, not wanting Evelyn to feel embarrassed.

There’s another reason why he didn’t go back to Doyle Manor tonight. He had felt someone watching them at the supermarket before. Although nothing happened in the end, he still felt uneasy. That's why he decided to stay at Barberts Apartment, so that if anything happened, he could help Evelyn in no time.

Of course, it’s not necessary to let Evelyn know about all this.

Evelyn checked the time and realized it was almost 10 pm. Since Todd hadn't arrived yet, she said, "Don’t sit here and wait. Let's go to my place for a while."

"But... won't that be inconvenient?" Dermot hesitated. Although he was happy in his heart, he was also quite anxious.

"Don’t worry. You were injured because of saving me. Although I don't want to have too much connections with you, I'm not so heartless," she said as she started walking towards the residential area.

Dermot forced a smile and followed behind her. "You're quite straightforward. You don't leave me any space for imagination."

"I'm just telling the truth," Evelyn replied.

The atmosphere in the elevator was somewhat silent, and Dermot was the first to talk. "Did Officer Rogers have any leads on those people?"

"Yeah, they said they have already caught three of them, and the rest should be arrested soon," Evelyn answered, showing her admiration for Officer Rogers' efficiency.

The elevator arrived, and they walked together towards Evelyn's door.

"If it's confirmed that Natalie was behind this, what do you plan to do?" Dermot suddenly asked.

Evelyn, who was opening the door, froze and turned to look at the man behind her. "Do you want me to let her go?"

"No," Dermot quickly shook his head, afraid of being misunderstood.

"I'm just asking. As for how you want to deal with her, I won't interfere," Evelyn said unexpectedly. She opened the door and walked inside.

The living room was similar to the last time he visited, warm and cozy, making it hard to leave. Evelyn poured him a glass of water and then said, "Since she committed a crime, she should be handed over to the authorities. I'm just an ordinary person; I don't have the right to arbitrarily decide someone's fate."

"Hmm," Dermot had no objections to Natalie's punishment, but he didn't quite agree with Evelyn's claim of being an ordinary person.

He smiled and said, "You're not an ordinary person."

"The renowned Dr. Kyte, a disciple of Mr. Smith, proficient in computers. I don't even know what else you're capable of," Evelyn sat across from him, not reacting much to Dermot's mention of these identities. "It's just a means of making a living; there's nothing worth mentioning."

Dermot couldn't help but smile wryly. If other people heard this, someone might want to punch her.

"I heard from my grandfather that you used to live with him in the countryside. When did you learn all of this?" he asked curiously.

Evelyn glanced at him, hesitating.

Seeing her hesitation, Dermot quickly said, "If you don't want to say, that’s okay. I was just asking casually, not intentionally prying into your privacy."

He just wanted to learn more about Evelyn, anything would do.

"There's nothing I can't say. I just don't know where to begin," Evelyn leaned back on the sofa, lost in her thoughts.
