Chapter 1301: Be Careful, Dermot Might Dump You
At 10 PM, Evelyn and her crew rolled up to this barbecue joint and ordered a bunch of BBQ and some beers.
The day's drama had everyone feeling kinda down, but hey, at least nothing major went down. Evelyn couldn't even think about how much Neil would've been hurting if it had.
"Sorry, Evelyn," Lily said, sitting next to Niall and looking across the table at Evelyn.
Evelyn just waved it off and sighed, "As long as you're good and not trying to hurt yourself again. Seriously, even if you don't care about yourself, think about Niall. You know how much he cares about you."
Lily blushed, feeling all kinds of guilty and embarrassed. "I won't do it again."
Once the mess with her parents was sorted, she wouldn't pull any more stunts, even if Evelyn didn't say anything.
"Come on, let's eat. The BBQ here is bomb," Niall urged everyone to dig in. He was feeling way better now.
He popped open a beer and was about to pour himself a drink when Evelyn was about to stop him, but Lily beat her to it. "You still got injuries; no drinking."
"A little bit should be fine, right?" Niall asked.
Evelyn shook her head. "Nope, not happening."
Lily snatched the glass from his hand and called out to the waiter. "A soda, please."
So, while Evelyn and the others sipped on beer, Niall had to settle for soda.
"Evelyn, is Aidan mad at me?" Niall asked nervously. He knew Aidan always wanted him to break up with Lily.
But he just couldn't do it, so they'd had a few blowouts over it.
Hearing Aidan's name, Evelyn felt a mix of emotions. "Don't sweat it, Aidan's not mad. I'll talk to him later, so chill."
Niall nodded and let it go.
Lily was munching on BBQ, lost in her thoughts. After a bit, she finally spoke up, "Niall, were you serious when you proposed to me before?"
"Of course, I was serious," Niall nodded, a bit surprised, "Why?"
"Actually, I…"
Before Lily could finish, Evelyn nudged Niall playfully. "Dude, just propose already. What are you waiting for?"
Niall got the hint, dropped to one knee, and pulled out a ring from his pocket. Good thing he always had it on him.
"Lily, will you marry me?" Niall asked.
This time, Lily didn't hesitate.
"Yes," she said with a smile, and Niall slipped the ring on her finger.
Everyone around them started clapping and cheering. Lily felt like this was the bravest thing she'd ever done.
Seeing Niall's successful proposal, Evelyn was genuinely stoked for him. "Even though you nailed the proposal, Niall, you can't have your wedding before Dermot and me. We've already set the date."
"Don't worry, I'm not in that much of a rush," Niall said. He hadn't planned anything yet anyway.
"Really?" Evelyn raised an eyebrow, "If you're not in a hurry, why propose now?"
"Evelyn, with that sharp tongue of yours, you better watch out or Dermot might dump you," Niall teased.
Dermot, who had been quietly eating BBQ, was mentioned and casually smiled. "Don't worry, no matter what, I love her forever."
Niall and Lily were both surprised at how smoothly Dermot could sweet-talk.
Evelyn smiled proudly and held Dermot's hand. "I've got a fiancé, so don't even think about messing with me."
Everyone burst into laughter, and just like that, the heavy mood lifted.
