Chapter 1166: You Are Now the Wife of the Hospital Owner
Dermot skimmed through the info, trying to give Evelyn a hand.
After reading it, Evelyn's face got all serious.
Her mom's background was pretty much what she figured; not some small-time family, but the Calderon clan.
Evelyn had never heard of the Calderon family. No such family in Golombia.
She noticed Howard was chilling in Seabrook City, a coastal town.
Evelyn had heard about this place. Folks there were known for their business smarts and tight-knit family businesses.
"Think my mom's family could be behind this, Dermot?" Evelyn asked.
Dermot thought for a sec and said, "Given the situation and what you've told me about your folks, it's pretty likely."
From the signs back then, it seemed like Evelyn's mom's family didn't approve of her being with Blake. That's probably why they took her away and kept her hidden for so long.
But Dermot couldn't wrap his head around it; even if Blake hadn't inherited the Kyte family, he was still a big deal for Evelyn's mom.
The families in Seabrook City might be loaded, but their status was way below those in Golombia.
The reasons behind this were a mystery to Dermot, and Evelyn didn't know either. To find out, they had to track down Evelyn's mom.
“Yeah, I think so too. It's likely my mom's family found out my dad was looking for her and didn't want him to find her, so they went after him,” Evelyn speculated.
“So, what's the plan?” Dermot asked.
Evelyn was quiet, her fingers tapping on the table. After a moment, she said, "I'm heading straight to the Calderon family to demand they release my dad."
She wasn't gonna be like her dad, who, even after learning the other party's identity and knowing which family her mom belonged to, insisted on investigating in secret. That was just a waste of time.
If it were up to her, she'd go straight to the Calderon family. Who's got time for slow, drawn-out searches?
“Yeah, that works too,” Dermot agreed. With the Doyle family backing him and Evelyn having the Kyte family, they had nothing to fear. Together, they could take on any family in Seabrook City.
Having made up her mind, Evelyn didn't want to waste any time, especially since her dad was still in their hands.
Dermot grabbed her hand and said, "No matter how urgent it is, you'll have to wait until tomorrow morning. No flights this late."
“Then I'll pack my stuff and call the hospital to ask for leave.” Speaking of this, Evelyn felt a bit embarrassed.
She had just come back from vacation and now needed to ask for leave again.
"Don't sweat it. The hospital's been bought by the Doyle Group. You're now the owner's wife. Go if you want; it's no big deal," Dermot said with a grin. He'd been busy with this matter recently.
Evelyn was stunned. No wonder Virgil had told her not to rush back to work and had been so unusually nice to her these past few days.
Evelyn asked, “Why'd you buy the hospital out of the blue?”
"Don't overthink it. It's just part of the Doyle Group's usual business strategy," Dermot explained.
Usual business strategy?
If she bought that, she'd be an idiot.
She knew Dermot did it for her, to lighten her load and make her work easier.
"Thanks," Evelyn said, then got up and went upstairs, disappearing from Dermot's sight.
Dermot watched her go and muttered, "Just a thank you?"
