Chapter 285 You Saved My Life

In this moment, Evelyn seemed to radiate light. Dermot was entranced, unable to snap out of it for a long while.

"Evey," the man looked at her, his heart inexplicably excited, "So, are you willing to be my girlfriend?"

"No," Evelyn shook her head, continuing under Dermot's disappointed gaze, "I still need to investigate further."

The man's eyes lit up again, his lips unable to contain a smile, "Alright, I'm in no rush."

As long as Evelyn was willing to give it a try, Dermot didn't mind how long the investigation would take.

Not continuing the topic, Evelyn redirected the conversation to the factory. "I'll have a new contract drawn up and sent over. You'll still own 40% of the shares, just like before."

"No need for so much. 10% is enough," the man said, not rejecting outright like before, but not accepting as much either.

Evelyn frowned, and Dermot explained, "This is what you deserve. Phoebe wants you dead, and your life is worth much more than this factory."

If it wasn't for Craig being his friend, Dermot felt that even if he made the entire Irvine family pay restitution to Evelyn, it wouldn't be enough.

"But... you ultimately saved my life," Evelyn sighed, feeling indebted to Dermot.

"That's different. Don't even think about using these shares to repay me for saving your life," Dermot chuckled lightly, "The only way to repay a life-saving favor is with a commitment."

Evelyn shot him a glare, finding it hard to take this man seriously even when he was lying in a hospital bed.

"Now rest well, I'm still waiting for you to cook for me," Evelyn said, already walking towards the door. After waving at Dermot, she disappeared back into the hospital room.

Dermot watched her leave, his heart filled with excitement.

He felt that his efforts had finally paid off. Evelyn had started accepting him, and with a little more time, he would surely be able to win her over.

When Todd arrived, he saw Dermot with a smile on his face and was genuinely startled.

"Mr. Doyle? Are you alright?" If he hit his head, what would happen to the Doyle Group?

After a moment, Todd thought of many possibilities.

Ignoring him, Dermot soon caught on. "Could it be that Ms. Kyte agreed to be my girlfriend?"

In his eyes, there seemed to be only one thing that could make their CEO happy.

"Not yet."

"Dermot said, 'So you are...'" Todd didn't understand.

"Almost there," Dermot thought for a moment and decided to tell him about Evelyn's reaction earlier. After all, he himself wasn't sure. "You think she's about to agree to me?"

"Hmm," Todd nodded. "I think Ms. Kyte means that your confession wasn't formal enough, too casual."

"What do you mean?" Dermot sat up suddenly, looking serious.

Todd almost laughed but managed to contain himself. He noticed that Dermot had changed since he started liking Evelyn, becoming more alive and less aloof than before.

"Girls, you know, they naturally expect a romantic confession. I think Ms. Kyte is no exception," Todd expressed his opinion as a perennially single guy.

Dermot fell into silence and thought carefully. He realized that every time he asked Evelyn to be his girlfriend, he was too casual. No wonder she hadn't agreed. That's how it was!

As if suddenly finding a direction, Dermot became energized. "So, what do you suggest I do?"

"Well..." Todd felt embarrassed. "I've never confessed to anyone before."

Growing up, he hadn't even encountered someone he liked. How could he have any experience?

"Within a day, I want you to come up with at least ten plans," Dermot ordered him, regardless of whether Todd had any romantic experience or not.

Todd froze. He was about to say he had no experience, but the next sentence from Dermot made him swallow his words.
