Chapter 1323: Dermot, I Love You
Compared to the little drama on their side, things were way more chill for Evelyn and Dermot.
After their plane touched down in Hiroth, they snagged a seaside hotel. They opened the window, saw the ocean, and bam, instant good vibes.
Right now, they were just rolling out of bed after some steamy action. Maybe it was the rare vacay, but both of them were buzzing.
"Feel like taking a walk?" Dermot slid up behind Evelyn and wrapped his arms around her.
Evelyn glanced at the beach nearby and nodded. "Yeah, why not."
So, they strolled out of the hotel and headed for the beach.
The sunlight stretched their shadows long, making everything look extra gorgeous under the sunset.
They wandered hand in hand, taking their sweet time.
Out of nowhere, a bunch of kids rushed over, each holding a rose, shouting, "Hey mister, buy a rose for the lady!"
Dermot glanced at Evelyn. She looked away, not saying if she wanted one or not, leaving it up to him.
Dermot chuckled, grabbed a rose from one of the kids. "Sure thing."
Seeing him buy one, the other kids swarmed him with their roses too. Before long, Dermot was holding a whole bouquet.
Evelyn burst out laughing, "Mr. Doyle, you're such a softie."
She did want a rose, but she didn't expect Dermot to buy the whole lot. It was kinda goofy.
Dermot gave a sheepish laugh, "I figured one rose might not cut it. A whole bunch looks way better, right?"
Evelyn looked at the bouquet in his hands and took it. "You're right; it does look nice."
Dermot grinned at that.
They kept walking, and Dermot was mulling over the whole baby thing.
He was thinking of waiting a few more years before having a kid, but what if Evelyn felt differently? He wanted to talk it out and get on the same page.
"Evelyn, what do you think about having a baby?" Dermot finally blurted out.
Evelyn was caught off guard. "A baby? I think we're still young, no need to rush," she said.
She thought Dermot was eager for a baby, so she looked a bit worried.
"I feel the same." Dermot quickly said. He wasn't in a hurry for a baby either.
He didn't hate babies, but he wasn't crazy about them either. Definitely didn't love them as much as he loved Evelyn.
Evelyn let out a sigh of relief. "Really? That's a relief. I thought you were gonna push me into it."
"No way. Not only do I not want a baby now, but I'd never force you if you weren't up for it." Dermot smiled wryly. Forcing someone wasn't his style.
Evelyn smiled, leaned on Dermot's shoulder, and they stood there, watching the sun dip below the horizon.
The view was stunning, and so were they.
In the distance, a photographer whipped out his camera to capture the sweet moment. Little did he know, this pic would later snag him an award.
As the sun set, Evelyn felt a wave of nostalgia.
Whether it was fate or not, it all came down to their choices.
Just like her and Dermot; in the end, they were together because they chose each other.
"Dermot," she suddenly said, turning to look at him.
Dermot looked back at her.
"I love you."
The sun dipped below the horizon, but who cared? It'd rise again tomorrow, bringing a new day.
