Chapter 345 What a Joke

Marina had never experienced such an insult before, and she was on the verge of rage. She gritted her teeth and said, "You were late."

"Didn't I explain? There was traffic," Evander frowned, thinking this woman looked average and quite critical. Besides, the beautiful woman beside her hadn't said a word.

Evelyn didn't speak because it wasn't her blind date. She accompanied Marina to prevent her from encountering men with ill intentions.

"Weren't you supposed to leave earlier if there was traffic? Is it appropriate to be late for the first meeting?" Marina was still angry, unwilling to let go of the fact that he was late.

Evander's expression was also not very good. "I'll treat you today. Order whatever you like. Is that acceptable?"

Marina wanted to say something more, but Evelyn held her back and shook her head, whispering in her ear, "Since it was arranged by your parents, it means their parents should know each other. Don't make it look too bad. If you really don't like it, find a reason to reject him later."

"Alright." Marina calmed down and thought Evelyn was right.

After accepting Evander's apology and ordering without hesitation, Marina looked across the table and said, "I won't hold the lateness against you, but I hope in the future, when you meet someone, you can leave earlier."

Anyway, she wouldn't choose this man in front of her, so she kindly advised him.

Evander couldn't care less about what she said and shifted his gaze back to Evelyn. He smiled and asked, "Is this your friend? Can you introduce her?"

"Hello, I'm Evelyn, Marina's friend," Evelyn introduced, nodding in acknowledgment.

"Hello." Evander smiled and reached out his hand, wanting to shake hands with Evelyn.

However, Evelyn didn't extend her hand and just smiled, ignoring him.

Evander felt a bit awkward, but quickly retracted his hand. "Your friend has quite the personality."

Marina sneered, thinking to herself that the other person was just ignoring her for being lazy. Can't you see it?

"Miss Peterson, my parents are pressuring me a bit more. If possible, how about we get engaged soon and postpone the wedding date? What do you think?" He looked at Marina.

Although it was regrettable that the other party wasn't as beautiful as Evelyn, so what? After all, once married, they would each do their own thing without any impact.

Marina thought she misheard and was about to say something when she heard him continue, "But I also want to make it clear that after we get married, neither of us should interfere with each other. Each to their own. What do you think?"

What else?

Marina didn't know how he had the audacity to say such words.

"Evander, it seems like you have some misconceptions about yourself." Marina controlled her anger, forcing a smile.

Evander froze, "What do you mean?"

"What I mean is," she paused for a moment, gritting her teeth, "I'm not interested in you!"

"Eve, let's go!" Marina couldn't bear to spend another minute with this man. If she did, she feared she wouldn't be able to control her desire to punch him!

Evelyn didn't try to persuade further; this man in front of her was indeed going too far.

What does he mean by each to their own? Does getting married to him mean just completing a task?

They wanted to leave, but Evander stood up to block them. "You said you're not interested in me? Are you kidding?"

"Don't worry, I'm not." Marina glared at him.

"Funny." Evander laughed, "If it wasn't for your parents coming begging for a chance, would I have come on this blind date with you?"

"Do you really think you're some lady from the Peterson family? Don't you know that the Peterson family is struggling? If you don't marry me, who can save the Peterson family?"

Evander really didn't expect someone who should've been fawning over him to say she wasn't interested.

It seemed like she believed he was interested in her.
