Chapter 214 A Bad Feeling
"Congratulations, Niall! I believe you will definitely make a name for yourself in your area of expertise," Evelyn offered her heartfelt congratulations.
Niall seemed to have had a few drinks, and his cheeks were slightly flushed. "Don't worry, Evelyn. Il will not disappoint you."
"Let's go inside," Aidan reminded them.
The four of them walked towards the banquet hall, where they saw plenty of guests. Unable to hold it in, Evelyn remarked, "Niall, I didn't expect you to have such good connections. So many people came to support the company right after it opened."
She took a closer look and noticed that many of them were well-known figures in Moris City, which surprised her.
Niall, however, felt a little embarrassed and scratched his head before saying, "Everyone came because of Aidan's reputation. In reality, not many people know me."
He had a clear understanding of himself. Without Aidan, he was nothing. At least for now.
Of course, he had confidence in himself and believed that with his own efforts, he would eventually make a name for himself. By then, people would no longer refer to him as Aidan's brother, but by his own name.
After exchanging a few more words, Niall returned to the entrance to greet the guests. Aidan glanced at Dermot and suggested, "Mr. Doyle, how about having a drink together?"
Dermot looked at Evelyn, as if seeking her opinion.
Seeing his gaze, Evelyn said, "You guys go ahead. I'll sit here for a while."
Aidan and Dermot were both businessmen, so it was only natural for them to engage in socializing on occasions like this. Evelyn didn't want to interfere with their plans.
Upon hearing Evelyn's words, Dermot didn't refuse and instead nodded at Aidan. "Then, we'll follow your lead."
Coincidentally, Dermot also wanted to see what Aidan had in mind. He couldn't believe that Aidan just wanted to have a drink with him.
As Evelyn found a seat and ordered a glass of juice, her gaze swept across the surroundings when suddenly, a figure appeared in front of her.
Evelyn looked up and saw a well-groomed and fashionable girl in front of her. However, the problem was that Evelyn did not recognize her.
"You must be Aidan's sister, right?" the girl spoke, arrogant.
Evelyn remained silent.
But the girl, acting as though they were old friends, sat down beside her and introduced herself. "I'm Phoebe Irvine, a friend of your brother's."
Irvine...
Evelyn immediately noticed the girl's surname.
In Moris City, there was only one Irvine family, known as the underground rulers. People wanted to establish good relationships with the Irvine family, but they were also wary of getting too close.
"So, your name is Evelyn, right? I've heard about you from your brother. Is your sibling relationship really that close?"
She looked at Evelyn, not caring that the latter had ignored her initially.
After giving it some thought, Evelyn believed that Phoebe had no ill intentions, so she replied, "Well, alright."
"Can you do me a favor then?" Phoebe looked at Evelyn expectantly.
Evelyn's heart skipped a beat, feeling unease.
"I like your brother. Can you talk to him on my behalf and give me a chance?" Phoebe said.
Hearing her intention, Evelyn found herself unsurprised. She had suspected this when Phoebe had first approached her, and now her suspicion was confirmed.
"Can you? I swear I genuinely like him. If he's willing to give me a chance, I can prove it to him!"
Phoebe looked at Evelyn, anxious when she received no response. At the same time, she couldn't help but admire how calm and composed Evelyn was, just like her brother.
