Chapter 1147: It's All in the Past

Evelyn was kinda taken aback that Henry would bring this up outta nowhere. She'd known about this stuff for ages, and since it hadn't come up again, she figured it was water under the bridge.

Even though she wasn't thrilled about being used, Henry had always treated her well during their two years of marriage.

The whole marriage to Dermot was a setup between Henry and her grandpa, but she went along with it. So, she couldn't really point fingers.

"Henry, why are you bringing this up now? It's ancient history," Evelyn said with a grin.

Henry finally let out a breath he'd been holding. "Yeah, it was my bad back then. I've always wanted to say sorry. Now that it's out there, I feel way better."

He was actually worried that his scheming back then would make Evelyn drift away from the Doyle family, so he felt he had to clear the air.

"It's all in the past," Evelyn repeated.

Whatever Henry had pulled before, it was all behind them now. Evelyn believed Dermot genuinely cared for her.

"Yeah, you're right, it's all in the past," Henry nodded, feeling totally relieved.

They then started chatting about other stuff. When Henry found out that Evelyn and Dermot were heading to Tara Village, he asked Dermot to take some flowers to Evelyn's grandpa for him.

After lunch, Henry went back to his room for a nap, and Dermot took Evelyn out of Doyle Mansion for a stroll.

They hadn't been away from Morris City for long since moving to Golombia, and Morris City hadn't changed much. Walking around felt super familiar.

"Anywhere you wanna go?" Dermot asked, looking at Evelyn.

Evelyn glanced around and couldn't think of a spot. "Let's just wander. Golombia's not far. If we miss it, we can always come back more often."

"Cool," Dermot agreed.

They wandered aimlessly, chatting here and there. They didn't say much, but the vibe was chill.

As evening rolled in, Bruce called, saying Henry was wondering when they'd be back. Only then did Dermot and Evelyn head back to Doyle Mansion.

"Where'd you guys go?" Henry asked with a smile when they got back.

Evelyn walked over to Henry and said, "Just wandered around."

"Yeah, not much to see in Morris City. Plus, you two are locals. You haven't been gone long enough to get all nostalgic," Henry said.

Evelyn nodded, agreeing.

Maybe they hadn't been away long enough to feel that way.

Dermot wasn't in the living room. Without Henry's say-so, he was already in the kitchen, cooking up a storm.

The Doyle Mansion had a chef, but since Dermot and Evelyn were coming back today, Henry had given the chef the day off. He was stoked for Dermot to cook for them.

After tasting Dermot's cooking during New Year's in Golombia, Henry realized what he'd been missing. Dermot was a killer cook! He had no clue, since Dermot wasn't one to brag. If Henry had known, he would've had Dermot cook for him every day.

Dermot didn't mind cooking, especially for his grandpa and Evelyn. He actually enjoyed it.

Right now, the vibe in Doyle Mansion was super chill. Evelyn and Henry chatted in the living room while Dermot cooked in the kitchen. They felt like a real family.
