Chapter 865 What Do You Think This Place Is?
Evelyn was about to say she didn't mean that, but Joshua, standing next to her, pulled her close and said, "Evelyn's under my protection now. You can't just bully her."
Aidan chuckled. "Alright, do your best to protect her."
Evelyn felt a bit awkward but just smiled and kept quiet.
After dinner, Aidan drove Evelyn home while Joshua headed back to the Kyte Group. He always said if he were going to do something, he'd do it right.
He wanted everyone to see his worth and know that he, Joshua, was capable and deserving of Evelyn.
When Evelyn got home, she was exhausted from a day of wandering around. She planned to take a nap, but her phone rang.
It was Dermot. She froze and didn't even reach for the phone.
The events of last night were still fresh in her mind, and remembering what Ruby had said, she decided to ignore the call.
Luckily, the call ended quickly, and Dermot didn't call again, which made her breathe a sigh of relief.
She was at a loss for words when it came to Dermot; the situation felt a bit awkward.
On the other side, Dermot looked at his phone. Evelyn didn't answer, but he could guess what she was thinking, so he didn't push it. After all, Evelyn needed time to sort out her feelings.
With that thought, he put away his phone and got back to work.
That night, Wade drove back home and saw someone standing at the entrance from a distance.
He pulled up and stopped in front of Lucia, then got out of the car.
"Wade." Lucia bit her lip and looked at him.
Wade felt a mix of emotions when he saw her, but he kept a straight face. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be abroad by now?"
"I thought about it and realized I couldn't bear to leave you, so I chose to stay," Lucia said.
Wade's eyes showed surprise, but he mostly felt mocked. "You were set on leaving before, and now you decide to stay. Lucia, are you playing with me?"
"No, I didn't mean that." Lucia quickly shook her head. "I like you, so I want to stay by your side."
"You come and go as you please. Do you think my house is a hotel?" He sneered, his eyes cold, making Lucia feel uneasy.
She chose to come back because, after hearing the whole story, Dora concluded that Wade had some feelings for her. If she didn't want to leave just like that, she should stay.
Lucia knew it was a gamble, but she still wanted to take the risk.
Before, she always thought Wade had no feelings for her and saw no hope in staying. It seemed better to go abroad with her mother and maybe live a happier life.
But after Dora's analysis, she thought maybe Wade did have some feelings for her. If she kept trying, perhaps she could make him like her.
So, she chose to stay.
"So, why exactly didn't you leave?" Wade scrutinized her.
Lucia bit her lip and said, "Because I like you, so I don't want to leave."
Wade sneered. He wasn't a fool. If that were true, Lucia wouldn't have insisted on leaving in the first place.
There had to be another reason, but he didn't know what it was.
