Chapter 1053: He Deserved to Die
After New Year, Evelyn mostly stayed at the villa taking care of Joshua. Dermot would occasionally invite her over for meals. Life was pretty chill.
But soon, the holiday ended, and everyone had to get back to work.
Once work resumed at the Doyle Group, big news hit: Dermot was named the new president, ending the succession battle.
The Doyle Group's stock price shot up immediately. People had a lot of faith in Dermot.
Dermot didn't worry about other families causing trouble. To him, they were just minor issues that needed time to sort out.
After Dermot took over, the Martin family stayed quiet. Margaret still needed to work with Dermot, so she wasn't going to oppose him.
One afternoon, while Dermot was busy with work, Margaret called, asking for a meeting.
"If you have something to say, just say it over the phone. I'm really busy," Dermot said, wanting to avoid any unnecessary interaction and potential misunderstandings.
"Haven't you always wanted that guy I caught? I'll hand him over to you." She had exhausted all questions. The guy was tight-lipped and wouldn't spill anything. Better to give him to Dermot and earn a favor.
Dermot frowned but agreed after a moment, "Where are you? I'll come to you."
"The villa; you know where it is." Dermot had woken up there before after losing his memory, so he could find it without an address.
Dermot hung up, left the Doyle Group, and drove to Margaret's villa.
After New Year, he needed to find chances for Leon to check Joshua's injuries. He wouldn't let Evelyn stay by Joshua's side forever.
Soon, Dermot arrived at Margaret's villa.
Margaret had already brought the guy to the living room. As soon as Dermot walked in, he saw the guy covered in injuries.
Dermot stared at him, frowning deeper. "Have you interrogated him?"
"Yes, but he's very tight-lipped and won't say anything." Margaret shrugged, thinking she had done her best.
Dermot wasn't surprised. People like this were usually ready to die, making it hard to get any info from them.
But Dermot didn't care. With time, he'd find some clues.
He waved his hand, and his people took the injured guy away. Dermot said, "I'll take him with me."
"Fine, but don't forget what you promised me," Margaret reminded him. She hadn't done all this for nothing.
"I always keep my word. If you want to take over the Martin family, you need to understand their current situation first. You need to find some loopholes for me to help you, right?" Dermot replied.
Margaret got it. Hearing Dermot wasn't backing out, she felt relieved. "Alright, I'll find the loopholes."
Dermot said nothing more and left the villa.
On the way back, Dermot thought about the guy he had just seen, his expression turning grim.
It was a typical foreign face, clearly not from Libertonia.
Could the mastermind be someone from abroad?
But it was also possible the guy wasn't from abroad but had foreign subordinates.
Joshua's face popped into Dermot's mind.
If anyone in Golombia had that many foreign subordinates, it would be Joshua. Most of his people were foreigners.
Connecting this to Joshua's refusal to let Leon check his injuries, Dermot felt like he had uncovered the truth.
If this were true, then Joshua really deserved to die.
