Chapter 958: Are You Advising Me to Give Up

Craig sipped his tea, eyeing Dermot across the table. "I'm here to eat. What else?"

"If Ruby saw you, she'd disagree," Dermot said, rolling his eyes. Ruby was already annoyed with Craig for spying on her, but he couldn't help himself.

Craig frowned. "What are you and Evelyn up to? Are you against me?"

It was obvious they were trying to set up Alex and Ruby.

"You're overthinking. I'm here for business. Ruby's relationship with Alex is none of my business," Dermot replied. Before Craig could respond, he added, "And Evelyn does her own thing."

"What?" Craig sneered. "She's just meddling. What does my relationship with Ruby have to do with her?"

"She's Ruby's friend. Of course, it matters to her," Dermot shot back.

Craig wanted to argue, but Dermot cut him off. "Evelyn thinks you lack self-control and sees you as unreliable because of your past."

"That was ages ago," Craig wanted to say he'd changed.

Dermot just stared at him.

If Craig had really changed, he wouldn't be here today.

Craig got the hint, clenched his teeth, and reluctantly said, "I'm just observing. If it were you, could you stay indifferent?"

Knowing the woman he liked was with another man, Craig felt his reaction was normal.

"You have a point, but think about Ruby's feelings." If Ruby knew Craig was here, she'd be even more annoyed.

Dermot sighed, looking at him with a mix of resignation and reluctance. "Craig, if you like her, you need to work on your self-control."

"Haven't I held back enough?" If he didn't genuinely like Ruby, he would've made a move the day he landed in Golombia.

But he'd been in Golombia for so long and hadn't made a move on her or targeted the Kite family. Wasn't that proof of his sincerity?

Did Evelyn really think he was afraid of her?

"I get it's tough, but others don't. They only see your actions. If you messed up before, you need to work twice as hard to make things right." Changing how people saw Craig wouldn't happen overnight.

Craig sipped his tea and nodded helplessly. "I get it, but there's one thing I can't be sure of. If I change, do you think Ruby would consider being with me?"

Craig feared it would all be for nothing, especially since Alex appeared.

There had been other men around Ruby before, but he had never been this worried because he could tell Ruby had no interest in them.

But Alex was different.

He had a strong feeling Ruby felt differently about him.

Dermot understood his concern and saw Ruby's favorable attitude toward Alex. "Craig, you have no choice now. You didn't cherish her back then."

Dermot advised, "Why not give up? It might be better for both of you." They could each find their own happiness, and Dermot thought that might be a good thing.

Craig responded with hostility, "So, you're telling me to just give up?"

"I just think it might be better," Dermot said.

"I remember suggesting you let go of Evelyn in the past. How did you respond?" Craig sneered, thinking, 'Our friendship meant a lot, but it paled in comparison to the one you loved.'

Dermot advising him to give up was just his way of helping Evelyn.
