Chapter 1071: What If She Only Loves Money
"No way! We're going now!" Evelyn insisted. Phoebe's pregnancy couldn't wait.
If they were getting married, it had to be soon. As her belly grew, finding a wedding dress would get harder.
After hanging up, Evelyn grabbed a cab and rushed to Niall's place.
Niall hung up, looking defeated.
"What's wrong?" Lily asked, sensing his mood.
Niall sighed and explained. Lily was like family; he shared everything with her.
Lily went quiet after hearing the story.
"Knowing Aidan, even if he finds out Phoebe's pregnant, he won't marry her. Evelyn dragging me there will just make things worse," Niall said.
"But Aidan should take responsibility, right?" Lily argued. Even if Phoebe schemed, the baby was still his. He should at least think about the baby.
"It's not that simple," Niall replied, dismissing her view. He knew girls often sided with each other.
Niall stood up and walked to the door to wait for Evelyn.
Lily followed. "Should I go with you?" she asked softly.
"No, if you go, Aidan will be even more upset," Niall said, then regretted it. "Lily, I didn't mean it like that."
"I know, Niall. I know Aidan doesn't like me," Lily replied with a bitter smile. She'd always known.
"Don't worry. I'll handle everything," Niall assured her, determined to stand by Lily no matter what Aidan thought.
Lily felt better. "Okay, I get it."
Just then, Evelyn's car pulled up. "Come on, Niall," she called.
"Lily, head home. Grab dinner alone; Evelyn and I will be at Aidan's," Niall said, expecting a long night.
Lily nodded and urged Niall to get in the car, giving Evelyn a brief nod.
She knew Evelyn, like Aidan, didn't really like her. Evelyn just hid it better.
But Lily didn't hold a grudge. Given her past, it was normal for Evelyn, who cared about Niall, not to like her.
Once Niall got in, Evelyn started driving. After a while, she asked, "Do you really like Lily that much?"
"Yeah, I do," Niall replied, keeping it short. His feelings were clear.
Evelyn glanced at him, unsure. "Aren't you afraid she's deceiving you? What if she only loves your money?"
"Then I'll make more money," Niall said.
Evelyn was speechless.
Niall laughed. "Evelyn, stop worrying about me and Lily. Trust me; I know what I'm doing."
Evelyn stayed silent, thinking Niall had never been in a serious relationship. How could he be so sure?
But she didn't say it. She didn't want to strain their relationship. Right now, dealing with Aidan and Phoebe was more important.
