Chapter 215 Coming for Me?
"I'm sorry, but I can't help you." Evelyn shook her head. Even though she wished for Aidan to find his girlfriend, it had to be genuine.
Phoebe became somewhat upset. "Why not? Do you think I'm not good enough for your brother?"
"There's no such thing as being deserving or not when it comes to love. It's only about whether one likes the other or not." Evelyn looked at her and then glanced at Aidan, who was not far away, before continuing, "Since you came to me, it means my brother doesn't like you. So there's nothing I can do."
If Aidan had any interest, Evelyn believed she could lend a hand, but it was clear that Aidan had no interest in Phoebe. There was no reason for her to assist her.
Phoebe felt disappointed, but she couldn't argue because Evelyn was right.
Aidan truly didn't like her, and he had rejected her several times. Now, he would even avoid her if not for today's occasion. She wouldn't even have had a chance to see him.
Sensing her sadness, Evelyn asked, "Why do you like my brother?"
"I think he's very handsome and capable. Who wouldn't like a man like him?" Phoebe talked about Aidan, stars shining in her eyes.
Evelyn could sense her genuine affection, but...
After contemplating for a moment, she finally said, "I can give it a try. But I can’t make a promise.. It's best not to have too high of expectations."
"Really? You're so kind." Phoebe was excited and hugged Evelyn tightly.
Being embraced like this, Evelyn wasn't used to it but didn't push her away either.
If Aidan really ended up with Phoebe, she would have to call her sister-in-law. It wouldn't hurt to get acquainted in advance.
After letting go of Evelyn, Phoebe said to her, "From now on, we're friends. If you need anything, feel free to find me. Even though I may not speak much at home, I can still help, being Miss Irvine and all."
Evelyn chuckled about Phoebe’s sincerity. She even mentioned Evelyn's situation at home.
"Okay, I will find you if I need you," Evelyn said.
As they were chatting, it seemed that Aidan noticed Phoebe appearing next to Evelyn. He immediately said goodbye to the guests in front of him and walked towards Evelyn.
Phoebe instantly became nervous and stood up, saying, "He's coming. I'll leave first. Remember to help me, okay?"
"Okay," Evelyn didn't expect Phoebe to be so afraid of Aidan. It seemed that she had been scolded by Aidan a lot when she was with him.
When Aidan walked up to Evelyn, she noticed his black face. She saw his gaze scanning the surroundings, seemingly looking for something, but quickly withdrew his gaze.
"What did she just say to you?" Aidan looked at Evelyn with a somewhat cold tone.
Seeing this, Evelyn pulled him to sit down beside her and said, "Aidan, why are you so angry? She's just a little girl. What can she say to me?"
"I'm just worried that she will harm you," Aidan spoke with a gloomy look, "She is from the Irvine family. She seems simple, but her identity is complex. Don't believe anything she says."
"She didn't come for me, but for you," Evelyn helplessly said. She didn't understand why Aidan was so serious and Phoebe didn't seem like a despicable person.
"She came for me?" Aidan furrowed his brows, and in just a moment, he figured out what was going on.
His complexion didn't improve, but instead became even worse.
