Chapter 956: Do You Still Like Him or Not

Alex smiled, grabbed the glass of water, and took a sip. "Mr. Doyle, why state the obvious?"

Dermot smiled too. If it weren't for Craig, he thought Alex and Ruby would make a good pair.

He sighed inwardly, worried for Craig. Could he really compete with such a strong rival?

"Mr. Doyle, let's discuss the collaboration," Alex said, not wanting to talk about Ruby with Dermot.

Dermot snapped out of it and got straight to the point about the collaboration.

Meanwhile, in the restroom, Ruby looked at Evelyn, annoyed.

"Why are you staring at me?" Evelyn asked, smiling.

"What are you up to? Why so many questions for Alex?" Ruby pretended to be upset. She knew Evelyn meant well, but it felt inappropriate to ask so much at their first meeting.

To Ruby, their encounter at the police station didn't count as a proper meeting. This was their first real introduction.

Evelyn's smile widened. "I just wanted to know Alex better."

"Why? Planning to ditch Dermot for him?" Ruby rolled her eyes, thinking Evelyn was being nosy.

Evelyn noticed Ruby's flushed cheeks and teased, "Why do you think I'm asking him all these questions?"

Ruby looked away. "I don't know what you mean."

"Really? Then why are you blushing?" Evelyn asked.

Ruby touched her face, feeling the heat. "The air conditioning is too strong."

Evelyn was speechless.

"Come on, Ruby, stop pretending. Alex likes you; you must know that," Evelyn said.

Ruby stayed silent.

"I think he's a good guy, so I wanted to know him better for you. What do you think of him?" Evelyn continued.

Ruby had guessed Evelyn's intentions but felt awkward hearing it out loud. "Evelyn, since when are you a matchmaker?"

"I don't meddle in others' business, but I care about you," Evelyn said, rolling her eyes. As a friend, she couldn't just watch Ruby waste time with Craig.

She always thought Ruby and Craig weren't a good match. Ruby deserved someone who could take care of her and give her a carefree life, which Craig couldn't provide.

Craig's life was too complicated. Even before they were officially together, so much had already happened. Who knew what the future held if they got together?

Ruby felt agitated, not because Evelyn was meddling, but because her mind was in turmoil.

"Evelyn, I know Alex is great, but I don't want a relationship right now," Ruby sighed, feeling a headache.

Evelyn didn't push but said, "I'm inviting him to dinner not just to set you two up, but because Dermot wants to talk to him. Don't overthink it."

Evelyn asked seriously, "The real question is, what are your feelings for Craig? Do you still like him?"
