Chapter 728 You Are Not Allowed to Leave
The entanglement between Natalie and Hubert was something Evelyn was unaware of at the moment. She was focusing all her energy on Jennifer in front of her.
Fortunately, Jennifer, who had learned martial arts with Nathan, was indeed not as skilled as Nathan. Otherwise, Evelyn might not have been able to handle her today.
After a dozen rounds, Jennifer stopped. "I lost."
Evelyn smiled at her. Jennifer was sensible enough to know that continuing the fight would only lead to her inevitable defeat, so she stopped now to save some face.
Evelyn had no objections, and naturally, neither did Jennifer. However, Emerald, who was standing by, was not satisfied.
"Lose? Ms. Johnson, how can you say you lost? You weren't even knocked down." In her view, losing at least meant being knocked down or seriously injured. What was this?
Jennifer's face darkened. 'So you won't be satisfied until you see me knocked down, huh?' Jennifer thought inwardly.
She looked at Emerald irritably and said, "Ms. Kyte and I were just sparring, not fighting to the death. If I can't win, I admit defeat. What's the problem?"
"But how could you not beat her?" Emerald still couldn't accept it.
She had heard from Nathan that those who learned martial arts with him were all very skilled and rarely found opponents.
But now, Nathan died at Evelyn's hands, and Jennifer was no match for Evelyn either. Was Evelyn really that formidable?
Jennifer didn't want to say more to her and directly said, "If it weren't for Nathan, I wouldn't even bother with you."
"I'm telling you, a loss is a loss. There's no need for so many reasons. I suggest you stop causing trouble for Evelyn. You're not her match."
Before leaving, Jennifer kindly reminded her. Whether Emerald would listen was not her concern.
Evelyn thought Jennifer was not bad, at least much better than Nathan and Emerald. So, even though Jennifer came to challenge her, she didn't hold a grudge.
After casually chatting with Jennifer and watching her leave, Evelyn turned her gaze to Emerald in front of her. "I'm sorry about Nathan's death, but since he broke the law, he had to face legal consequences. I don't think I was wrong to send him to prison."
"As for his later suicide, I didn't expect that. If you want to blame me, there's nothing I can do."
But Evelyn wouldn't apologize to Emerald yet she didn't think she was wrong.
Unfortunately, Emerald was too distraught over Nathan's death to listen to Evelyn's explanation. "Are you sorry? Isn't all of this your fault?"
Evelyn's face darkened, and she said nothing.
"If it weren't for you, Nathan wouldn't have died. I don't believe he committed suicide. You must have had someone kill him in prison," Emerald shouted angrily.
Evelyn was speechless, feeling it was pointless to argue with her. "If you really think that, you can report me to the police. I'm sure they'll give you a clear explanation."
"The police?" Emerald found it laughable. "You rich people, the police only work for you."
Evelyn remained silent.
She didn't want to say another word, feeling it was a waste of breath. "Suit yourself. If you want to keep seeking revenge on me, go ahead."
With Nathan dead, as long as Emerald didn't go too far, Evelyn didn't want to bother with her.
She figured Emerald wouldn't find anyone else to help her besides those who learned martial arts with Nathan.
"You are not allowed to leave!" Emerald shouted angrily, chasing after her as she tried to leave.
