Chapter 896 Niall's Girlfriend
The room went dead silent. Aidan never thought Evelyn would admit her feelings for Dermot so openly.
After a long pause, Aidan sighed. "It's your life. I don't like Dermot, but I won't interfere. Supporting Joshua was just to give you another option."
Evelyn felt she might've overreacted and quickly said, "Sorry, Aidan. I didn't mean to..."
"It's not your fault. I should've planned better and not made you uncomfortable," Aidan replied, knowing Evelyn wasn't happy about Joshua being invited to dinner.
To Evelyn, Joshua was just a friend now. For a family dinner, she probably didn't want him there, which was why she brought Dermot.
They didn't continue the topic because a woman's voice came from the living room.
Evelyn looked at Aidan, surprised. "Aidan, why is there a woman in your house?"
"Go see for yourself," Aidan said, not explaining. He let Evelyn head to the living room while he stayed in the kitchen.
Curious, Evelyn walked to the living room.
She saw a casually dressed woman with long hair, looking very gentle.
But Evelyn's eyes were drawn to the person next to her.
Niall stood there, holding the woman's hand, looking very much in love. Evelyn's mind went blank for a moment.
Seeing Evelyn, Niall waved. "Evelyn, come here. Meet Lily."
Evelyn walked over, dazed, as Niall introduced his girlfriend, Lily Wright.
Lily seemed quiet and gentle, and Evelyn's first impression was good.
"Hello," Evelyn said, extending her hand.
Lily shook her hand. "Hello. Niall has told me a lot about you. You're even more beautiful than he described."
Evelyn joked, "Thanks. Niall would never say I'm beautiful. To him, you're probably the most beautiful woman."
They exchanged pleasantries, and the atmosphere was friendly.
Since Lily was Niall's girlfriend and might become family, Evelyn wanted to get along with her.
Evelyn asked Niall to help in the kitchen and stayed to chat with Lily.
During their chat, Evelyn learned Lily worked at Niall's company. They kept their relationship a secret at work.
Evelyn liked Lily even more after hearing that. Keeping a relationship secret is tough.
"You and Niall got along like siblings, so I'd like to take you as my sister too," Lily said.
Evelyn was happy and found Lily easy to get along with. She nodded. "Yeah."
While they chatted, Dermot and Joshua stayed silent. They occasionally glanced at Lily but showed little interest in interacting.
Lily, however, was curious about them. Evelyn introduced them briefly, and they exchanged simple greetings without much conversation.
