Chapter 1363 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (38)

"I ain't got anyone else to pick from," Aidan said straight up, though he had his own selfish reasons he couldn't spill.

Phoebe's face dropped when she heard that. She thought, 'So, it's just 'cause he ain't got other chicks to choose from that he's picking me. Why was I even excited? I thought Aidan was into me. How dumb.'

She kept quiet, and Aidan, thinking she was gonna say no, got a bit nervous. "Is that cool?"

Phoebe looked up at him. Even though she was super pissed, she couldn't seem to turn Aidan down. She pressed her lips together and, after a moment, said, "Fine, but if I make a fool of myself, you can't blame me."

She hadn't been to these kinds of parties in forever. She used to love going to them, but after getting pregnant and then getting sick, she realized a lot of stuff didn't matter, so she stopped.

Now, she was going to a party again, and with Aidan, no less. To be real, she was pretty nervous.

"Don't sweat it, you won't embarrass me," Aidan said with a grin, looking all pleased.

Phoebe didn't get why he was so happy. She figured he was just glad to have someone with him, not necessarily her. She thought if he had other choices, he wouldn't have come to her.

Closing the door, Phoebe lay in bed but couldn't sleep. She thought her thing with Aidan was moving forward, but now it seemed like it was just her wishful thinking.

She couldn't sleep, but Aidan was out like a light. Before hitting the sack, he sent a message to his assistant, asking him to get a dress in Phoebe's size and made sure to say it had to be unique.

The assistant, getting the message in the middle of the night, had to get up and find a dress. But making it unique was a bit of a challenge.

To get a unique dress, he'd need to have one designed, but it was way too late for that. Another option was to buy a high-end designer dress, especially one that was one-of-a-kind. But that would cost a fortune.

The assistant knew the current state of Aidan and Phoebe's relationship, so he wasn't sure if Aidan would drop that much cash on a dress for Phoebe. He decided to get a few options and show them to Aidan the next day for a decision.

At the Dermot place, when Dermot got back, Evelyn was still up, talking on the phone.

"I don't care how long ago it was, you gotta find out the truth. I won't let Edwin be trashed after he's gone," she said before hanging up, clearly in a bad mood.

Dermot walked over to her and pulled her into his lap. "Still digging into Aidan's background?"

"Yeah, I don't believe Edwin kidnapped Aidan. There's gotta be some mistake." She had to find out what really went down back then. Only then would Edwin's name be cleared.

Dermot knew how much she cared about Edwin, even though he wasn't her real grandpa. He reached out to smooth her furrowed brow. "I'll help you look into it. We'll get to the bottom of this."

"Okay." Evelyn leaned on Dermot's shoulder. Once she found out the truth, she would make sure to tell Sienna in person that Edwin wasn't that kind of guy. And since it involved Aidan, she also wanted to know what really happened back then.
