Chapter 834 Just Go Ahead and Do It

Blake looked at her, knowing she wasn't kidding. "I'm just worried about you."

"It's really not necessary, Dad. Haven't I been doing just fine all these years on my own?" Evelyn was a bit exasperated. She had grown up and didn't need anyone worrying about her.

Blake felt even guiltier hearing this. "It's because I haven't been around much that I feel guilty. I just want you to have someone to rely on so I won't worry as much."

"Well, you're wrong. Relying on others these days usually leads to disappointment." Evelyn never thought about finding someone to rely on. If she did, it would be someone she genuinely liked, not for any other reason.

Blake sighed, feeling helpless. "I don't know where you got this independence from."

Evelyn just smiled and said nothing.

"Evelyn, after all this talk, you still like Dermot, don't you?" He seemed convinced but was still worried.

Evelyn's face stiffened. She wasn't prepared for her father to bring up Dermot.

She asked, "Why are you bringing him up? That was ages ago."

"Sometimes, feelings don't fade with time; on the contrary, they can grow stronger." Just like his feelings for Evelyn's mother. Even after all these years without seeing her, not even knowing if she was alive, the person he loved most was still Evelyn's mother.

Evelyn remained silent.

With that, Blake could only sigh. If he had only been guessing before, he was now certain. "I'm not against it, but I'm afraid you'll get hurt."

"But I know your personality. You'll protect yourself and not let yourself get hurt," Blake added.

Even though he was still worried, Evelyn had grown up, and he had to learn to let go.

Evelyn felt uneasy with his words. "Just take care of yourself and enjoy your life. There's no need to worry so much."

"You're right. Now that you're in charge of the Kyte Group, I should let go and do my own thing." Blake nodded, not planning to ask more. He knew Evelyn knew what she was doing.

Evelyn glanced at him and asked, "Have you really decided to look for my mother?"

"Yes." Blake nodded. "It's something I've wanted to do for a long time. I've only now found the time. Your mother must be waiting impatiently."

"Do you know where she is?" Evelyn asked.

"No." Blake smiled bitterly. If he knew, he would have gone long ago rather than wait until now.

Evelyn frowned. "If you don't know, where will you look?"

"There will always be hope. I still remember the faces of those who took her. Years ago, I had someone draw their portraits. There should be some leads." As long as Evelyn's mother was still alive, Blake believed that with his current resources, he had a chance to find her.

But Evelyn wasn't so optimistic. After all, so many years had passed, and finding someone from a portrait would be very difficult.

However, she didn't stop him. "If that's the case, then go ahead."

Evelyn knew it was Blake's obsession. If she didn't let him go, he would live with regret for the rest of his life.

"Yes, don't worry. I will definitely find her and bring her to see you, to show her how outstanding you are." Blake was full of confidence and even a bit of anticipation.

Evelyn smiled and said nothing more.

Actually, people always needed a goal to live better.
