Chapter 1253: I Believe in You
So, even though Evelyn kinda had a hunch about what Dermot was up to when she saw Ruby and the gang show up, she still got all giddy when he dropped to one knee, whipped out a diamond ring, and popped the question.
She'd daydreamed about Dermot proposing more times than she could count, and now that it was actually happening, she couldn't help but feel over the moon.
Sure, she and Dermot had their fair share of drama and misunderstandings, but they finally made it work, and she was head over heels for him. This time around, getting hitched felt way different from the first time.
To be real, in Evelyn's mind, this was the real deal.
"Evelyn?"
Dermot started to sweat a bit when Evelyn just stared at him, not saying a word. "I know I've messed up a lot before and made you feel shaky, but I swear, this time, I'll treat you right. None of that old stuff is gonna happen again."
Honestly, they still had a lot of baggage. If they hadn't rushed into marriage and then split up so fast back then, maybe it wouldn't have been so hard to get back together.
Evelyn snapped out of it when she heard Dermot's words and flashed him a smile. "I know. I trust you."
After everything, Evelyn still chose to believe in Dermot.
This time, they were gonna be happy for sure.
As Dermot slid the ring onto her finger, Evelyn laughed. "I haven't even worn the last ring you gave me when you confessed. Now you're giving me another one. Dermot, you really have a thing for giving me rings."
Thinking about it, Dermot did seem to have a thing for rings.
"I just think you look amazing with them on," Dermot said, standing up and taking her hand. The ring really did make her fingers look even more elegant.
Evelyn chuckled. "Too bad I can't wear it all the time. Being a doctor means no rings most of the time."
Dermot blinked, just now realizing why he hardly ever saw her wearing the rings he gave her.
"No worries, I'll get you something else next time." He still wanted her to have something from him. If rings were a no-go, he'd get her diamond necklaces.
As they kept chatting, applause broke out around them, and everyone was beaming with joy and well-wishes.
Except for Alex, who hadn't known Evelyn and Dermot for long, everyone else had seen the rough road they'd traveled to be together. Now that they finally made it, how could they not be happy?
Dermot invited everyone to sit, and the restaurant lights came on as waiters started bringing out the food.
That's when Evelyn noticed Craig was there too, with Lydia by his side.
Evelyn didn't mind; Craig was Dermot's buddy, so it made sense for him to be there. She was just a bit uneasy.
Luckily, Craig didn't act weird. He didn't even glance at Ruby and Alex, like he didn't know them at all.
Everyone settled in and enjoyed the meal.
