Chapter 1141: What Did I Do to Offend You

The two showed up in no time, just like Evelyn figured. When Sarah called earlier, Keith was right there with her, so he tagged along.

"Evelyn, long time no see," Keith greeted her in his usual laid-back style, but he seemed way more chill now. Maybe it was just her imagination.

Evelyn couldn't resist poking fun, "Yeah, I remember someone saying he wanted to chase me, but he couldn't keep up."

Keith went quiet.

He sneaked a look at Sarah's face, coughed, and then got all serious, "I was just messing around. You're not my type at all."

"Really? I thought you were pretty serious back then. Right, Dermot?" Evelyn glanced at the guy next to her. Dermot had already plopped down beside her, leaving the seat across from them open.

Dermot nodded earnestly. "Yeah, I was really worried you two would end up together."

Keith threw up his hands. "Guys, what did I do to deserve this? Why are you messing with me like this?"

Didn't they see Sarah was still here? How could they say stuff like that?

Plus, he wasn't really trying to chase Evelyn back then; he was just trying to mess with Dermot.

"No, we're just telling the truth," Evelyn chuckled, looking all serious.

Keith was helpless. He leaned closer to Sarah and explained, "Don't listen to her nonsense. I never liked her."

Sarah stayed quiet, so Keith kept going, "Seriously, I was just trying to get under Dermot's skin back then."

"Oh, so I was just a game to you?" Evelyn looked annoyed. "Keith, how should I get back at you?"

"What's there to get back at? Even though I wasn't serious back then, I never lied to you, and I helped you out a bunch of times," Keith said.

Evelyn thought about it and realized it was true. "Even so, you're still super annoying."

"Evelyn, what do you want then?" Keith gave in. He didn't want to keep arguing with her.

Evelyn couldn't help but laugh, "How about this, I won't give you a wedding gift when you get hitched."

"Deal," Keith agreed.

The teasing wrapped up there. The waiter came over and handed them the menu. They ordered some dishes, and then Sarah spoke up, "Evelyn, you know Keith and I are getting married, right?"

"Yeah, I just found out. Sarah, you don't treat me like a friend at all by not telling me sooner," Evelyn pretended to be upset, but she was genuinely happy for Sarah.

Her readiness to marry Keith meant she had truly moved on from her past relationship, and those old wounds couldn't hurt her anymore.

Sarah felt a bit shy. "I wanted to tell you in person when you got back."

Evelyn smiled and asked, "When's the big day?"

"A week from now," Sarah replied.

"So soon?" Even though she knew they were getting married, Evelyn hadn't expected it to be so quick.

Before Sarah could respond, Keith jumped in, "We believe that day is the best day for us to get married."
