Chapter 256 But I Can't Control It
Dermot couldn't care less about what Aidan was thinking. He used to be concerned about the threat Aidan might pose to him, but now that he knew Evelyn's attitude, he was completely at ease.
However, Evelyn was still here, so he couldn't show it too obviously. He poured a glass of wine for Aidan, "Have a drink?"
"Sure." Aidan drank without fear of Dermot.
The three of them were drinking while Evelyn ate her meal alone. If she didn't think about Aidan, Evelyn felt that this scene was somewhat harmonious.
As the three of them drank more and more, they all started to feel a bit dizzy. Evelyn became worried when she saw this.
"Stop drinking and eat your food." She spoke, looking at the three of them who wanted to continue drinking, feeling helpless.
But all three of them were stubborn, not willing to stop. They didn't even show any intention of stopping for the sake of competing with each other.
Seeing this, Evelyn decided to ignore them and let them continue drinking while she sat on the couch and worked on her design sketch.
An hour later, Dermot and Niall were both passed out from drinking, leaving only Aidan sober.
"Evelyn." Aidan stood up and walked towards Evelyn.
"Aidan?" Evelyn stood up and saw the two men passed out on the table. She felt concerned, "Why did you all drink so much?"
"Evelyn." Aidan spoke again, making Evelyn have a slightly uneasy feeling.
She turned around and met Aidan's gaze.
Indeed, Aidan's eyes were no longer the same as usual, they carried some affection.
But Evelyn didn't feel the same, she even felt a chill running down her spine.
"Aidan, you're drunk. Go to your room and rest." She had two guest rooms here, both Aidan and Niall could sleep in them.
But Aidan didn't leave, instead he took a few steps forward and approached Evelyn, "Evelyn, do you really dislike me that much?"
"Aidan, I don't dislike you." Evelyn shook her head.
"Then why won't you give me a chance? I can do what Dermot does, I can even do it better than him." Maybe because he was drunk, Aidan let out all the thoughts in his heart.
Hearing his words, Evelyn frowned and felt a bit unhappy, "But, you are my brother."
"But I don't want to be your brother, at least not for the rest of my life."
"Brother."
Aidan looked at her, unable to contain his emotions, "Evelyn, I like you. I've liked you since the moment I laid eyes on you. You have no idea how difficult it has been for me to hide this liking all these years."
Evelyn stood there, at a loss for words, "Since you've hidden it for so many years, why not continue to hide it? Why did you have to let me know?"
At that moment, she wished she had never known, Aidan could still just be her brother.
"I also want to hide it forever, but I can't control it," Aidan smiled bitterly, filled with so much reluctance, "Seeing you get closer to Dermot, you have no idea how much pain it caused me."
"That man hurt you so much, yet you still want to get close to him, how can I bear to watch?"
"I just wonder, since you can accept him, why can't you accept me? At least I have never hurt you."
He just wanted a chance, a chance to openly pursue Evelyn.
Unfortunately, Evelyn was destined not to give him that chance.
"Aidan, aren't you hurting me now?" Evelyn looked at him, her eyes turning red.
To destroy the bond between siblings that had been built over many years, wasn't that a form of hurt?
For Evelyn, the hurt caused by Aidan was a hundred times worse than Dermot...
