Chapter 1340 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (15)
Evelyn shoved her phone back in her pocket and shot a look at Phoebe. "Aidan's gonna be here soon."
"Okay," Phoebe mumbled, her cheeks turning a bit pink.
Evelyn couldn't help but tease, "I thought you'd be your usual bold self. You and Aidan living together, I figured things might've heated up."
"I..." Phoebe started, then hesitated. "I'm scared he'll end up hating me."
She'd seen that look of disgust on Aidan’s face before. Now that she had a shot to get close to him again, she was terrified of screwing it up and pushing him away.
"I don't think so. Aidan seems different with you now." Evelyn couldn't put her finger on it, but she had a gut feeling things had changed between them.
Phoebe's eyes lit up with a mix of hope and disbelief. "Really? You think so?"
"Yeah," Evelyn nodded. "But who knows what he's really thinking. If you like him, you gotta step up and make him like you back."
Evelyn didn't mind Phoebe now. In fact, she was kinda excited about the idea of Phoebe marrying Aidan and joining the family.
Not just for Aidan, but for Theodore too.
Who wouldn't want their parents around? Who wouldn't want their parents to love each other forever?
"I get it," Phoebe nodded, starting to really think about it thanks to Evelyn's words.
Just then, Dermot strolled into the restaurant. He made a beeline for their table and plopped down next to Evelyn.
"Dermot," Phoebe greeted him. She didn't know him well, only through Craig.
Dermot gave a nod but stayed quiet.
"Did you order?" Dermot asked Evelyn.
Evelyn nodded. "Yeah."
"Did you get clothes?" Dermot noticed the shopping bag next to Evelyn and leaned in to whisper.
Evelyn nodded and gently pushed him away, feeling a bit shy with Phoebe sitting right there.
Seeing her embarrassment, Dermot backed off and returned to his usual cool self.
But the damage was done.
In Phoebe's mind, the image of the untouchable Dermot was shattered.
She could hardly believe her eyes.
Was this lovey-dovey Dermot the same guy she used to know?
Phoebe remembered the first time she saw Dermot. She'd tagged along with Craig to a party and spotted Dermot lounging on a sofa from afar.
Dermot had a wine glass in hand and looked totally unapproachable.
Back then, she had a crush on Dermot and secretly asked Craig if she could be his girlfriend. I mean, who wouldn't want a hot guy like that?
"If you wanna stay alive, forget it," Craig had warned her.
Phoebe wasn't dumb. She knew Dermot was off-limits, so she dropped the idea.
Luckily, it was just a passing crush, not real feelings.
But what had she just seen?
The once arrogant Dermot now looked like any guy head over heels in love. It was mind-blowing.
