Chapter 480 The Last Question
The woman sneered and helplessly said,"I don't want to work for someone either. It feels terrible to be commanded, but I have no choice. I owe someone."
"But it's alright. After I kill you, I'll settle my debt with that person too." It's the hardest to repay personal debts; it took her many years to finally clear it, so she wouldn't let Evelyn get away this time.
Evelyn was speechless. She thought to herself that this woman may have repaid her debt but it would be at the cost of Evelyn’s life.
The woman seemed to not want to say anymore and sighed.
"Don't waste any more time. Let's find a deserted place and fight. If you win, you can go; if you lose... you'll have to leave your life behind."
"Alright." Evelyn didn't refuse. It just so happened that she didn't want to fight right under the building.
The two of them walked out of the community and headed towards the riverbank. There were fewer people there at night, so if they fought there, they wouldn't be easily noticed.
"Can I know who you're working for?" Evelyn couldn't help but ask, even though she thought the chances of the other person telling her were slim. But what if? After all, this woman didn't seem like someone who played by the rules.
Upon hearing this, the woman didn't hesitate and directly said,"the Kyte family in Colombia, you know them, right?"
Evelyn's body trembled, unable to believe it. "The Kyte family? It's the Kyte family who sent you to kill me?"
"Yes," the woman nodded, not understanding why Evelyn was so amazed.
After a long silence, Evelyn finally regained her composure and gritted her teeth before continuing her question,"So, the reason you came to find me last time was also because of the Kyte family?"
"Hmm," the woman nodded, seemingly regarding Evelyn as already dead, so telling a deceased person wouldn't make much difference to her.
She had intended to conceal it for the Kyte family all along—if Evelyn hadn't asked, she wouldn't have mentioned it, but since Evelyn did, she naturally spoke it aloud.
"But why didn't you kill me last time?" This was something Evelyn had been unable to figure out all along.
The woman fell silent for a moment, seemingly hesitant about whether or not to answer this question.
Seeing that, Evelyn deliberately provoked her further,
"You've already said what needed to be said, so what can't you say? Are you afraid of the Kyte family, maybe?"
"Afraid of her?" The woman sneered,"That person simply asked me to take some of your blood. As for what she would do with it, I didn't ask, nor am I interested."
Indeed, she had no interest; she just wanted to repay her debt as soon as possible.
Take her blood? Evelyn paused for a moment and then she immediately came up with a guess.
Could it be for a paternity test?
But her father should have been very certain that she was his daughter, shouldn't he? Otherwise, he wouldn't have sought someone to educate her all these years.
"That person..." Evelyn was cut off as she spoke.
"You have too many questions," the woman interrupted Evelyn, feeling irritated by her numerous inquiries. She had come to kill, not to answer questions.
Evelyn chuckled nervously but still persisted,"One final question."
"Is that person the current mistress of the Kyte family?" This was Evelyn's speculation. She felt that it shouldn't be someone her father had sent; if they truly wanted to kill her, there would have been plenty of opportunities without raising her.
The woman halted her footsteps and looked at Evelyn,"It seems you understand very well why you are to be killed."
Evelyn smiled and nodded.
If it was that person, she could actually guess a little bit. It seemed that the woman didn't want her to return to the Kyte family.
Of course, she had heard that the Kyte family now only had one daughter. If she were to return, wouldn't she be taking away everything that belonged to their daughter?
Unfortunately, she wouldn't allow her to have her way.
Not only did she want to return to the Kyte family, but she also wanted to take back what belonged to her. After all, who made her desire for revenge so strong?
"Can we get started now?" The woman grew impatient; she was eager to finish this and go have her meal.
