Chapter 849 Who Won?

Peter looked at Jennifer disdainfully. "For us martial artists, our teacher's reputation is everything. Evelyn has consecutively defeated Nathan and Jennifer, which has made us look bad. I'm here to restore our teacher's honor."

Avenging Nathan was just a side note.

In Peter's eyes, Nathan just wasn't skilled enough, and his death wasn't a big deal.

But Evelyn beating both Nathan and Jennifer made it seem that Gary's students were better than Alvin's.

Evelyn thought, 'How was I supposed to know you guys would take it so seriously? Your people challenged me. Was I supposed to just stand there and get beaten?'

Jennifer didn't expect Peter to think this way and got furious. "Peter! Do you really see yourself as the spokesperson for the teacher? He hasn't said anything, and you think you need to step in?"

"Mr. Weaver is busy. As his top student, it's my job to handle this." And he had to win back the teacher's honor.

Seeing the two about to argue, Evelyn pulled Jennifer aside. "Alright, you step back. I'll fight Peter."

"No way. I'm helping you. Let's take him on together." Jennifer was fuming and found Peter extremely annoying.

Peter was livid. If he could, he'd teach Jennifer a lesson first; she was just too infuriating.

Evelyn was amused. She pulled Jennifer aside. "Actually, it's normal for Peter to think this way. Just watch; I know what I'm doing."

If it were her, she wouldn't go around picking fights like Peter, but she'd be upset if her teacher's honor was tarnished.

So, she thought, since Peter came to fight, it wouldn't hurt to have a match.

But before making a move, Evelyn felt the need to clarify something. "If I beat you, will others keep challenging me?"

If so, it would never end.

"Don't worry, win or lose, no one will bother you after this," Peter said.

Evelyn nodded, feeling more at ease. "Alright, let's do this."

Jennifer was forced to stand aside and watch. She wasn't too worried; since it was a sparring match, it probably wouldn't be life-threatening, just some injuries at most, which was much better than she had imagined.

Not far away, Evelyn and Peter had already started. Jennifer, feeling bored, decided to play on her phone. She had found an interesting novel last night and was engrossed in it.

But before she could read two chapters, someone walked up and patted her shoulder. "Stop reading. Let's go back."

Jennifer snapped out of it, looked up at Evelyn, then at Peter in the distance, feeling a bit confused. "It's over?"

"Yeah, it's over," Evelyn nodded.

Jennifer was even more confused. It ended faster than her previous fight with Evelyn. "Who won?"

"Peter," Evelyn said.

Jennifer looked at Peter. Since he won, why did he look so unhappy?

As they spoke, Peter walked up to them. He looked at Evelyn with a complicated expression. "I know you didn't give it your all. Do you look down on me?"

Evelyn waved her hands. "Don't misunderstand. I really couldn't beat you."

She hadn't given it her all because she knew that even if she did, she wouldn't be a match for Peter. So why make it too embarrassing?
