Chapter 952: Calm Down

Quentin didn't care what she said. "What's the big deal about signing the divorce papers? It won't take long. I think you just don't want a divorce and want to keep spending my family's money."

"Quentin!" Amelia was furious, her chest heaving. "How much of your money have I spent? How can you be so heartless?"

Most of the money she had spent before was her own, and she hadn't spent any on the hospital stay. How could Quentin say that?

"Calm down," Evelyn said, trying to comfort Amelia and understand the situation.

She looked at Quentin coldly. "Her condition isn't suitable for discharge. What if something happens? Will you take responsibility?"

"What could possibly happen? I think you're just siding with her," Quentin muttered. He didn't dare be as aggressive with Evelyn, but his face was cold.

Amelia was coughing violently from anger. Evelyn turned to her and asked, "Do you want a divorce?"

"Yes, why wouldn't I?" She didn't want to spend another day with this jerk.

"Alright, I'll take you there." With her around, she could provide immediate assistance if something happened.

The most crucial aspect was that if the divorce remained unresolved and Quentin continued to stir up trouble, it could harm Amelia's health.

Amelia almost burst into tears. "Dr. Kyte, how can I trouble you like this?"

"It's okay," Evelyn said, shaking her head. She looked at Quentin. "Did you bring the divorce papers?"

"Of course," Quentin said, happy to hear Evelyn's words. He couldn't wait to finalize the divorce.

Evelyn took the papers, glanced over them, and furrowed her brows. "So, Alice's custody to Amelia, and all the house, car, and savings go to you? This divorce agreement won't cut it."

She tossed the agreement back. "The house, car, and savings should be split equally."

"She already agreed to it," Quentin said, displeased with Evelyn's interference.

"Besides, I've already spent a ton of money because of her illness," Quentin complained.

Amelia felt a sharp pain in her heart. Even though she knew how heartless Quentin could be, it still hurt to hear it.

She sighed and looked at Evelyn. "Dr. Kyte, just give it all to him. I don't want any ties with him."

Evelyn glanced at her. "Giving it to him would only benefit someone else. You need to stand up for what's rightfully yours, whether it's for yourself or for Alice."

The charity fund only covered the surgery and post-operative care. Once discharged, she and Alice would still need to live. How could they survive without money?

"How about this: savings to Amelia, house and car to you. If you're good with that, we'll get a new agreement drawn up, and you can finalize the divorce. If not, we stay put. And if Amelia racks up debts, you'll need to pitch in to clear them," Evelyn proposed.

Quentin glared at Amelia. "This is the agreement you agreed to, and now you're backing out? Haven't you spent enough of my money? And now you have the nerve to ask for more?"

Amelia's face turned cold. She had initially wanted to persuade Evelyn to let it go, but now she had changed her mind.

"Why shouldn't I take what's rightfully mine? What do you mean? Don't I have a share of that money? It's already generous of me not to ask for the house." The house was bought after their marriage, so she was entitled to half of it.

But she didn't want to live there, and she knew that if she asked for the house, Quentin would never agree. So she thought Evelyn's suggestion to ask for the savings was a good choice.
