Chapter 882 What Clues?
Evelyn didn't see Geoffrey and Lisa's argument. Right now, she was focused on Dermot in front of her. "So, how is it? Does it taste okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, it's pretty good. No wonder you always like eating here," Dermot replied.
Evelyn pouted, feeling a bit guilty. "Sorry, I didn't mean to turn you down. I just haven't made up my mind yet."
"I get it." Dermot smiled, understanding her hesitation.
If he were in her shoes, he'd be conflicted, too, wondering if the person in front of him could be trusted.
Evelyn wanted to say something, but looking at Dermot, the words just wouldn't come out.
"Don't overthink it. Just follow your heart. I'm pretty confident in myself." Dermot reassured her with a smile. He believed Evelyn liked him, so he wasn't too worried.
Evelyn nodded and then ate quietly.
Over at Martin Manor, Margaret watched as news about the Doyle family was slowly scrubbed from the internet. She couldn't help but wonder what was really going on with them.
"Who killed Gerald?" she muttered under her breath.
She knew she couldn't just sit around, so she got up and walked to the room next door.
"Mom," she said, pushing the door open.
Abigail looked up and motioned for her to sit. "I noticed you haven't been going out much lately. Still upset about your father and grandfather's decision?"
"No," Margaret shook her head. She was upset, but she couldn't admit it.
"I know it's hard, but a family can only have one head, and you need to understand that," Abigail said. And that head could only be Alexander, not Margaret.
Margaret pressed her lips together and changed the subject. "Mom, I came to ask about the Doyle family. You know, Dermot and I..."
She trailed off, hoping her mother would get the hint.
But her concern for the Doyle family wasn't because she liked Dermot. She was thinking about what she could do next. She still hadn't avenged Dermot's betrayal.
In her eyes, Dermot had betrayed her.
They had agreed to work together for mutual benefit, but Dermot had ended the partnership unilaterally. To her, that was a betrayal.
Seeing that Margaret wasn't really angry, Abigail felt relieved. "The situation is complicated. Gerald was suddenly killed, and Randy's been investigating. They say there are some clues."
"What clues?" Margaret asked.
"They've caught a few people," Abigail said, though she didn't know much. He heard it from Steven.
Margaret frowned, sensing something was off. "Those who broke in and killed Gerald were probably just pawns. To find the real murderer, they need to look for the mastermind."
"Yes, but finding the mastermind is tough. If they dared to act, they must be confident the Doyle family wouldn't find them out," Abigail said.
Margaret thought for a moment. "Doesn't Mr. Randy Doyle have any suspects? With Gerald dead, the biggest beneficiaries are James and Dermot. Doesn't he suspect them?"
"Mr. Randy Doyle probably does, but he likely has no evidence. Besides, he's already lost Gerald. Would he really want James to pay with his life?" Abigail said, thinking that even if James was found guilty, they might not pursue it.
