Chapter 1260: Have You Really Thought It Through
He was dead serious, not messing around with Dermot.
Just as Dermot was about to nod, Evelyn chimed in, "Dad, chill. If he ever treats me bad, you won't need to step in; I'll handle him myself."
Evelyn wasn't the type to just roll over and take it.
Having been through a divorce once, she wasn't scared of doing it again.
"Mr. Kyte, don't worry. I'll treat Evelyn right." Dermot was already head over heels for her and didn't know how else to prove it.
After that, Blake and Dermot chatted about some wedding stuff. Evelyn wasn't into it, so she got up and went for a stroll outside.
In the summer, Kyte Manor was bursting with flowers.
As Evelyn was checking them out, she heard footsteps behind her. Without looking, she knew it was Bella.
"Evelyn." Bella hesitated but called out.
Evelyn turned and smiled. "Hey, what's up?"
"Have you really thought this through? Marriage is a big deal." Bella was worried. She didn't know much about Dermot, just what Blake had told her, and she was still uneasy.
Evelyn smiled and nodded. "Don't worry. Marrying him doesn't mean I'm depending on him. We're both our own people, so whatever happens, I'll be fine."
Whether it was marriage or divorce, Evelyn wasn't scared.
As long as she stayed strong, nothing could shake her.
Bella was surprised by her words, then smiled. "You're way stronger than me."
She couldn't do what Evelyn did.
"Don't worry, I'll be happy." Evelyn had no beef with Bella. Their relationship wasn't super close, but it was cool.
Bella nodded and switched the topic. "Wanna take a walk? The garden's looking great."
"Sure." Evelyn agreed and strolled with Bella in the garden.
At noon, the four of them had lunch together. Blake was in a great mood and insisted on having a few drinks with Dermot.
Dermot didn't say no. This was his future father-in-law, after all. If he refused, how could he marry Evelyn?
So, when they left Kyte Manor, Dermot was drunk again.
Evelyn was driving, looking at the wasted Dermot, feeling annoyed. "Can't you cut back a bit? You're probably still hungover from last night."
"Evelyn, Mr. Kyte was happy, so I was happy too." Dermot grinned. He usually didn't drink this much.
Evelyn glared at him. "So what if you're happy? Does being happy mean you have to drink?"
"I promise, I'll drink less in the future. I'm not really into drinking anyway." Dermot sat up straight, trying to sober up.
Seeing him like this, Evelyn said, "Just drink less next time."
"Yeah, I got it."
The car drove slowly. After dropping Dermot off at the villa and making sure he was asleep, Evelyn went to find Ruby.
They hadn't had much time to chat last night, so today was their catch-up time.
At the coffee shop, Ruby saw Evelyn and waved, "Hey, Evelyn."
Evelyn walked over, feeling a bit guilty. "Sorry I'm late."
"It's cool. You were meeting your parents with Dermot, I get it." Ruby grinned mischievously. "So, did your parents give Dermot the thumbs up?"
