Chapter 454 Illegitimate child?
"Evelyn?" Sarah looked at Evelyn, who was not responding, and couldn't help but call out to her. Was she stunned?
Evelyn snapped out of it and felt a bit embarrassed, "Sorry, I got lost in thought."
Luke Doyle, she hadn't paid attention to him. After the assistant brought him in, she left the office, leaving only Evelyn and the two of them.
Sarah asked Luke to sit down and then briefly introduced his background to Evelyn. After hearing Sarah's explanation, Evelyn couldn't help but sigh. Luke really was outstanding, no wonder Sarah is so excited.
"Mr. Doyle, I'm actually curious. With your credentials, you could easily go to a better company. Why did you choose to come to Evelyna Fashion?" She knew that their company was just a small start-up and far behind those listed companies.
Luke didn't find this question surprising and smiled as he said, "I understand what you mean, Ms. Kyte. But I feel that if a talented person goes to a big company, they are more likely to be overshadowed. On the contrary, a company like yours, still in its growth phase, can better showcase my abilities."
He had a point, and Evelyn nodded, choosing to, temporarily, believe him.
"I have no doubt about you. After all, you are so exceptional. It's my good fortune to have you at Evelyna Fashion." If she didn't hire such talent, it would be a waste.
Luke still had a smile on his face, as if nothing could provoke his emotions, "In that case... let's have a pleasant collaboration?"
"To a pleasant collaboration," Evelyn stood up and shook his hand.
Things had gone so smoothly, and Sarah was also delighted. "Let's have a meal together. We're, after all, a team now."
"Of course, Sarah, you choose the place, and I'll treat you." As the boss, she still had some grace.
Sarah quickly booked a restaurant and looked at the two of them. "Let's go. Alright, the restaurant is booked."
"Okay." Evelyn nodded and looked at Luke. "Mr. Doyle, please."
"Ms. Kyte, just call me Luke. It's too formal for you to call me Mr. Doyle all the time," Luke suggested, trying to establish a closer relationship. Evelyn did not refuse.
She said to Luke, "Then you can call me Evelyn, just like Sarah does. After work, there's no need to be so formal."
"Alright, Evelyn." Luke smiled even brighter, as if he had been waiting for this moment.
The three of them left the company. Evelyn got into Sarah's car, while Luke drove behind them. In the car, Sarah couldn't help but question Evlyn.
"So what do you think? He's handsome, isn't he? You were totally mesmerized just now."
"What are you talking about? I was just daydreaming," Evelyn replied speechlessly. Luke was indeed good-looking, but it's not like she had never seen a handsome guy before.
"What were you daydreaming about then?" Sarah casually asked while driving, treating it as idle chit-chat.
Evelyn thought for a moment and then said, "Have you thought that Luke looks like someone?"
"Like whom?" Sarah was puzzled, not having any clues.
Evelyn helplessly said, "Don't you think he bears some resemblance to Dermot?"
As soon as she said that Sarah was stunned. She was about to say no, but when she carefully considered it, she did think that there was a resemblance. She couldn't pinpoint exactly what it was, just a feeling.
"Yeah, there is some resemblance," Sarah finally nodded after a while. Evelyn understood what she meant. It wasn’t just her who thought it.
"He couldn't be Dermot's father's illegitimate child, could he?"
Sarah opened her mouth in astonishment. After all, wealthy families are often involved with such matters, and there are always some illegitimate children. She thought the possibility was credible.
Not to mention Evelyn, even she had this suspicion. Moreover, she knew that Dermot's father had left with Keith's mother. There could really be a son between him and Keith's mother, right?
