Chapter 170 Discussing the Big Wedding
The next morning, another piece of news exploded on the internet.
"Last night, Dermot, the president of the Doyle Group, personally visited the Barns family mansion, suspected to discuss the big wedding between the two families!"
When Evelyn saw this news, her heart skipped a beat, filled with indescribable feelings.
"Dr. Kyte?" It seemed like her supervisor noticed her absent-mindedness and called her name.
Evelyn recovered herself and looked at her.
Director stood in front of her. Evelyn said, "Sorry, what did you just say?"
"There is a project in the hospital to support remote areas. This time, the director wants you to go. What do you think?" the director asked.
Evelyn frowned, slightly confused, "I have only been at the hospital for a short time, is it appropriate?"
"There is nothing inappropriate. This is a public welfare project, beneficial to your career," the director said.
Of course, Evelyn understood that. Most hospitals are like this, after going to remote areas, one can generally move up.
But Evelyn felt that if she continued to move up so quickly, it would probably cause dissatisfaction among other people in the hospital.
"You don't have to worry too much. This is the hospital's decision, and besides, you have the ability," the director said.
After a while, Evelyn finally said, "Okay, I am willing to go, but let's agree that it's only for the public welfare. I hope that after I come back, the hospital doesn't make too many other arrangements for me."
"Dr. Kyte..."
"Director, I understand your and the director's meaning, but I am still young and there are plenty of opportunities. Other people in the hospital need to move up more than I do," she said.
For her, titles and such were not that important, so it was not necessary to snatch opportunities from others.
Seeing her determination, the director could only say, "Alright then."
And so, Evelyn accepted the three-month rural work assignment. The hospital arranged for her to leave tomorrow, to a remote small county next to Boulder.
As a result, she finished work early today, needing to go back in advance to pack, plan the route, and also learn about the situation there. She couldn't go without preparations.
Just as she arrived at the entrance of her community, her phone suddenly rang. She picked it up and was surprised to see that it was Grandpa Doyle calling.
"Grandpa." She answered the call.
"Evelyn, it's been a long time since you last visited Grandpa. Is it that after divorcing Dermot, you don't treat me as your grandpa anymore?" Grandpa Doyle's slightly weary voice came from the other end of the line, making Evelyn feel uneasy.
"Grandpa, what are you talking about? I've just been busy recently, so I didn't have time to come to Doyal Mansion to visit you," she said with a smile.
Grandpa Doyle chuckled, "Are you busy now? Come to Doyal Mansion and have dinner together. Grandpa misses you."
Evelyn didn't immediately agree and carefully thought before responding, "Okay, I'll come over right away."
"Great, I'll have the kitchen prepare your favorite dishes."
After hanging up the phone, Evelyn turned around and hailed a taxi to Doyal Mansion.
Grandpa Doyle has always been good to her. Since she will be away for three months this time, Evelyn felt it was necessary to go and tell him, so as not to hurt his feelings.
The taxi quickly arrived at the entrance of Doyal Mansion. Evelyn paid the fare and got off. Just as she was about to enter, she heard the sound of a car approaching from behind.
Subconsciously, she turned her head and saw Dermot's car.
Seeing Dermot get out of the car, she furrowed her brows.
Seeing Natalie also get out of the car, her brows furrowed even tighter.
"Ms. Kyte, what a coincidence. Are you also here to have dinner with Grandpa?" Natalie walked up to Dermot with a smile, and at first glance, it seemed that they had a close relationship.
