Chapter 651 What's Your Opinion?
Seeing Evelyn angry, Eugene remained calm. He still smiled, feeling quite pleased to finally see some emotions from Evelyn's face.
"Shall I take you back?" Eugene offered.
"No need," Evelyn refused, standing up and leaving immediately.
Eugene didn't insist and watched Evelyn leave the restaurant, wondering about the exact nature of Evelyn and Dermot’s relationship?
Evelyn drove to Kyte Group. Although her mood was affected by meeting Dermot, she didn't let it interfere with her work.
Evelyn went straight to Blake's office and knocked before entering.
Seeing her, Blake quickly closed the files, and smiled, "Come, sit down. I heard from others that you came to work early this morning. Must be tiring, right?"
"You don't have to think of me as so delicate. Although I came early this morning, I didn't actually do much, so how could I be tired?" Evelyn understood that Blake wanted to be a good father figure to her, but she wasn't quite used to it.
Blake just smiled at her words and got up to sit on the sofa. "Did you come to see me for something?"
"Yes," Evelyn nodded and handed over the contract that Eugene had given her. "Please take a look."
Blake took it and carefully went through the contract.
Soon, Blake finished reading the contract, but his expression became particularly serious, "What's your opinion?"
"Anything abnormal must have a cause," Evelyn said coldly.
Blake nodded in agreement, "I suspect there's an issue with this piece of land, or perhaps the Roberts family is setting us up."
They haven't had much cooperation with the Roberts family over the years, so their sudden initiative was suspicious.
"Let's have someone investigate. It's not that we can't cooperate, but we need to understand the situation better. Maybe we can turn the tables on them," Evelyn said with a slight smile.
Seeing her like this, Blake smiled, feeling that Evelyn was very much like him, "Alright, I'll have someone look into it."
After discussing this matter, Evelyn didn't plan to stay any longer and got up to leave.
"Evey, if you have other things to do, you don't have to come to the office every day. Everyone knows now that you are the future heir of Kyte Group. It doesn't matter what others think; this is an unchangeable fact," Blake said directly, feeling that Evelyn shouldn't waste time in the operations department and should instead learn to manage the company by his side.
Evelyn stopped and thought seriously for a moment, then sat back down on the sofa. "Since you mentioned it, I’d like to talk about this too."
"Go ahead."
"I have no experience in managing a company, nor do I have any interest. If you insist on handing the company over to me, it's best to start looking for a few reliable people now. Later on, I will hand the company over to them to manage, and I'll just be a figurehead," Evelyn said.
She felt that it should be like Darkmoon Group. The company was hers, but she didn't have to worry too much. With Luke and Sarah around, she hardly needed to manage it.
Blake was stunned by Evelyn's words and didn't respond for a long time.
Seeing this, Evelyn continued, "I also have things I like to do, and I can't change my life plans because of you. I hope you can understand."
She still preferred being a doctor; it was a purer pursuit for her.
Blake could see Evelyn's determination in her eyes and understood that this was probably her compromise.
He sighed, "Alright, I'll start looking for candidates soon and try to find some capable and reliable people for you."
"Thank you for your understanding," Evelyn sincerely thanked him. After all, Blake was her father. If he had been really adamant, it would have been difficult for Evelyn.
She wouldn't change her mind, and it would only strain her relationship with Blake, which was not what she wanted to see.
Fortunately, the worst-case scenario didn't happen.
