Chapter 723 You Misunderstood
"Evelyn, you really started working at the hospital, right? I haven't heard from you these past few days, so I thought you weren't coming." Geoffrey had been waiting for news from Evelyn these past few days, as it would determine whether he should be with Lisa or not, so he kept waiting.
Fortunately, today he heard from a colleague that a new doctor had joined the neurosurgery department. He immediately thought of Evelyn and rushed over after work, and to his surprise, he actually ran into her.
A barely noticeable hint of displeasure flashed in Evelyn's eyes, but she didn't show it. "Yeah, my start date was just confirmed."
"No matter what, getting the job is a good thing. Shall we celebrate together?" Now that he was sure Evelyn was working at the hospital, he naturally made his choice.
Although Lisa had a father who was a department head, he still looked down on nurses and felt that someone like Evelyn was more suitable for him.
Evelyn didn't know what he was thinking; she just didn't want to have too much to do with him. She didn't have a good impression of this person. "Not today, I've already made plans with a friend."
"That's perfect, we can all go together. Your friend is my friend, the more the merrier." Geoffrey didn't see himself as an outsider at all; anyone who didn't know better would think they were very close.
Evelyn was reluctant, but she had to keep smiling. After all, they were college classmates and now worked at the same hospital, so she didn't want to make things awkward.
"That doesn't sound too good. How about another day? I'll treat you," She said.
Hearing her say that, Geoffrey didn't insist further. "You better keep your word."
"Yeah, don't worry." She heard that the hospital had a cafeteria, so she planned to treat Geoffrey there another day. After all, she only said she'd treat him, not where they'd eat.
With that, Evelyn finally managed to shake off Geoffrey and got into her car to go home.
After she left, Geoffrey was still smiling as he watched her leave. Lisa, however, had appeared behind him secretly. "Geoffrey, what do you mean by this?"
Her cold voice startled him. "Lisa, you nearly scared me to death."
"If you weren't feeling guilty, why would you be scared?" Lisa's face puffed up with anger. She wasn't stupid; the way Geoffrey looked at Evelyn just now was clearly different.
In the past, if Lisa said something like this, Geoffrey would explain at once. But now that he had made his decision, and he naturally wouldn't continue to placate her.
He cleared his throat and pretended to be serious. "Lisa, what are you talking about? What do I have to feel guilty about?"
"Nothing to feel guilty about? Then let me ask you, do you like that woman who just left?" She pointed in the direction Evelyn had gone and questioned Geoffrey.
She thought Geoffrey would explain or deny it, but he didn't.
After a brief silence, Geoffrey nodded. "Lisa, I don't want to lie to you. I do like her."
Lisa's mind went blank, her eyes full of disbelief. "Yesterday you said I was your only one, and today you say you like someone else? Geoffrey, are you even human?"
"You misunderstood. What I meant was, you are my only sister," Geoffrey said.
Lisa had never seen someone so shameless. Sister? When they were being ambiguous before, he never treated her like a sister.
She was so angry she wanted to hit him, but they were in the lobby on the first floor, with people coming and going. She couldn't bring herself to do something so embarrassing.
"Geoffrey, you're too much. What do you take me for?" Her eyes reddened. Although her family wasn't very wealthy, her parents had always treated her well. She had been raised like a little princess and had never been treated like this.
