Chapter 1201: I Don't Know What You're Talking About

A loud smack echoed through the room, and Oscar hit the floor hard, totally thrown off balance.

Nathaniel's hit was brutal. Even a tough guy like Oscar was left seeing stars.

"Oscar! Where the hell is Bella?" Nathaniel was losing it, his eyes boring into Oscar like he was ready to end him if he didn't get the right answer.

But Oscar wasn't the type to cave under pressure. He'd bend for a kind word, not a fist.

At first, he felt a bit bad about teaming up with Evelyn against his old man, but that slap snapped him out of it. Did Nathaniel ever see him as a son? Nah, to him, Oscar was just some mutt he raised.

With that thought, any guilt Oscar had vanished. "Dad, I seriously have no clue what you're talking about."

He said it straight, blood trickling from his mouth, making Nathaniel second-guess himself.

"Don't know? The chick upstairs ain't Bella, and you don't know?" Nathaniel shot back.

Oscar looked shocked and quickly said, "No way! She's definitely Bella."

Nathaniel didn't say anything but didn't hit him again either.

Thinking it over, if he hadn't spent so much time with Bella, he might not have spotted the fake so fast.

"You really didn't notice she was a fake?" Nathaniel asked, eyes narrowing as he tried to read Oscar.

But Oscar had gotten good at hiding his feelings around Nathaniel, leaving nothing for him to pick up on.

Nathaniel had the fake brought downstairs, cleaning his gun and pointing it at her. "Who the hell are you?"

"I am Bella," the woman said again. She wasn't lying; she really only remembered that name.

She didn't remember how she ended up with the Roberts family, but she remembered Evelyn saving her. So when Evelyn asked for her help, even though it was risky, she agreed without a second thought.

Once she repaid Evelyn's kindness, she could start fresh.

Nathaniel was fuming, stepping forward and slapping her again. "Where did Evelyn take Bella?"

"I don't know what you're talking about," the woman replied.

Nathaniel tossed her aside and told his guys, "Take her down and grill her, but don't kill her."

She looked a lot like Bella; she might still be useful.

The woman was dragged away, and the room went quiet again. Oscar kept his surprise act up, showing nothing out of the ordinary to Nathaniel.

Nathaniel glanced at him and said, "She looks kinda like Bella, but up close, there are differences."

He was still suspicious of Oscar.

"Dad, you see Bella every day, so you can tell. But I don't, so when I saw this woman, I never thought she could be a fake." Oscar had practiced these lines in his head a million times, so Nathaniel wasn't getting anything useful from him.

Nathaniel knew this too, but it still bugged him. "You make a point. Go find Bella now. I need to know where she is."

"Okay, I'll go check right away." Oscar got up and left.
