Chapter 846 Let Her Go

Evelyn didn't waste a second. After hanging up on Lucia, she dialed Wade right away.

It took a moment for the call to connect. When Wade finally answered, he sounded groggy. "Evelyn, why are you calling so late? What's up?"

Evelyn hesitated, momentarily at a loss for words.

"Evelyn?" Wade's voice grew concerned. "Is everything okay?"

Taking a deep breath, Evelyn decided to cut to the chase. "Wade, Lucia just called me."

Wade's expression darkened, though Evelyn couldn't see it.

"She said she wants to go abroad with Dora, but you won't let her," Evelyn continued.

"Yeah, she crossed me before, and I haven't dealt with that yet. No way I'm letting her go," Wade said, trying to keep his emotions in check. He reminded himself that Lucia wasn't worth the stress.

Evelyn frowned. Her intuition told her that this wasn't the real reason Wade wouldn't let Lucia leave.

"Wade, forgive her. After all, she's my sister.. Just let her go," Evelyn urged.

She didn't want Wade and Lucia under the same roof any longer.

To Lucia, it felt like Wade was torturing her, but Evelyn saw it differently.

Evelyn knew Wade had other feelings for Lucia, even though Lucia thought it was just hatred.

It wasn't hatred. From their recent interactions, Evelyn was sure Wade's anger had faded over time.

Wade was surprised Evelyn would plead for Lucia. "Evelyn, is she threatening you again?"

"No, I just think it would be good for her to leave with Dora. Then we wouldn't have to deal with her anymore," Evelyn said.

She really didn't care about Lucia anymore.

She spoke up only because she didn't want Wade to make a mistake.

Wade stayed silent, clearly reluctant.

Evelyn's heart sank. Could her suspicions be true? Did Wade really have feelings for Lucia?

Though she knew spending time together could lead to feelings, she always thought Wade's dislike for Lucia was too strong for that.

But reality seemed to be proving her wrong.

"Wade, you don't want her to leave?" Evelyn's tone turned cold.

Wade was startled. He thought, 'What's wrong with me? Why am I finding it so hard to let Lucia leave, even after Evelyn's request?'

He wasn't stupid; he sensed something was off.

Quickly suppressing his unnecessary emotions, he said, "Of course not. I don't care if she leaves. The only reason I didn't let her go was to get revenge for you, for what she did to you before."

"That's all in the past. Let her go," Evelyn insisted.

"Alright, since you brought it up, I have no reason to refuse," Wade agreed, then hung up.

Evelyn breathed a sigh of relief. Since Wade had agreed, he would definitely follow through. She thought maybe she was just being too sensitive.

After hanging up with Evelyn, Wade got up from his study and stormed to Lucia's room. He kicked the door hard. "Lucia! Get out here!"

"What do you want?" Lucia trembled inside, not daring to open the door.

"Open the door!" Wade growled, visibly furious.
