Chapter 1072: When Did You Start Playing Matchmaker
The car pulled up to Aidan's villa quickly. Since they called ahead, Aidan was already home when they arrived.
Seeing them get out, Aidan's face lit up. "Come on in."
It was still January, and snow kept falling in Golombia, with freezing temperatures.
They went inside. Since Niall didn't bring Lily, Aidan was in a better mood and sounded friendlier.
"Aidan, Niall and I haven't had dinner yet," Evelyn hinted.
Aidan laughed, "Don't worry; I won't let you go hungry."
Evelyn chuckled, watching Aidan head to the kitchen, then pulled Niall to sit on the sofa.
"Evelyn, when are you going to ask?" Niall whispered, glancing at the kitchen.
Evelyn bit her lip, unsure. "Why don't you ask, Niall?"
Niall quickly stepped back, putting some distance between them. "No way. Are you trying to get me killed?"
If he suggested Aidan marry Phoebe, Aidan would probably beat him up.
Niall felt too young to die.
"Fine, I'll ask," Evelyn said, rolling her eyes.
Seeing Niall sit back next to her, Evelyn couldn't help but complain, "Niall, you used to say you'd protect me and face anything head-on. How long has it been, and you've already forgotten your promises?"
Niall gave an awkward smile. "This is different."
To Evelyn, it wasn't.
They were discussing how to bring it up, while in the kitchen, Aidan was happily cooking, clueless about what was coming.
He guessed Niall and Lily had broken up and they came for dinner, so he was happy.
But he was completely wrong, though he didn't know it yet.
"Aidan, let me help you," Evelyn said, walking into the kitchen to help wash vegetables.
"No need; I can handle it." With just the three of them, there wasn't much to cook.
Evelyn insisted on staying to help.
"Aidan, you're such a great cook. Whoever marries you will be really lucky," Evelyn said, testing the waters.
Aidan barely reacted. "I haven't thought that far ahead. I'm just happy to cook for you and Niall," he replied.
"How can you not think about it, Aidan? You should consider your own happiness too," Evelyn said, feeling sad. Aidan had spent so many years focused on her and Niall, rarely thinking about himself.
Aidan paused, then gave a wry smile. "Evelyn, since when did you start playing matchmaker?"
"I'm just curious about your thoughts, Aidan," Evelyn admitted. She wanted to prepare him mentally so he wouldn't be too shocked later.
Aidan was silent for a moment, lost in thought.
After a while, he finally said, "Honestly, I haven't given it much thought. Maybe I just haven't met the right person yet."
Evelyn felt a headache coming on. "Haven't met the right person? When will that ever happen?" It seemed like an endless wait.
"Do you like babies, Aidan?" Evelyn suddenly asked, her eyes wide with curiosity.
