Chapter 1121: Silence All Around

When Evelyn decided to make a move, she had no clue what was gonna go down, but she was outta options. Sitting around waiting to kick the bucket? So not her vibe.

Just as her hand was about to touch the dude in front of her, bam! He got a bullet to the head and dropped, his two goons following suit.

Evelyn spun around, eyes wide, and saw Dermot striding over.

Gotta admit, Dermot looked pretty damn good right then.

"You okay?" Dermot asked, eyes all worried as he got closer.

Evelyn shook her head and flashed him a grin. "You showed up just in time. Another minute and I'd be toast."

She'd been ready to throw down with those three guys, and who knew if she'd make it out alive.

Dermot looked kinda guilty. "Sorry, I just rushed over from the airport. Thought you'd be there."

Since getting Evelyn's message, Dermot had been on high alert, hitting the airport every day. When she didn't show, he'd bolt to the docks.

"It's cool. Thanks," Evelyn knew it was a miracle Dermot even found her with zero intel.

Dermot pulled her into a tight hug, whispering, "Evelyn, I'm so glad I found you."

"I haven't been gone that long, have I?" It'd been, what, a month? Not as dramatic as Dermot was making it.

"Don't you get it? Even one day without you feels like forever," Dermot shot back.

Evelyn rolled her eyes but stayed in his arms.

Truth was, she was stoked too.

If Dermot hadn't been so stubborn about finding her, she'd still be stuck on that island.

Maybe she could've busted out later, but only after totally winning Joshua's trust.

Evelyn didn't have that kinda time, nor did she wanna waste it.

So yeah, she was super grateful Dermot showed up.

After a quick chat, Dermot whisked Evelyn away. They were still in Joshua's turf, and if he found out she bailed, he'd probably send his goons after her.

It wasn't until she was on the plane leaving Danista that Evelyn felt truly free.

She wondered how Joshua would react when he found out.

Would he come after her?

Evelyn hoped not. She figured that'd be the best ending.

At eleven that night, the helicopter landed, and Joshua stepped out, heading for the castle.

This was the longest he'd been away since Evelyn came to the island, and he missed her like crazy.

Finally, he could spend more time with her.

He walked into the castle, grinning, but it was eerily quiet.

No one was in the living room, but Joshua didn't think much of it. At this hour, Evelyn would be asleep.

Still, he wanted to see her, so he headed to her room and knocked. "Evelyn, you awake? Can I come in and chat?"

No answer.

Meanwhile, Mary heard the helicopter land and Joshua enter the castle. She was terrified he'd find out everything.

But when she heard him go upstairs and knock on Evelyn's door, she felt she'd made the right call.

If Evelyn stayed, Joshua would never notice her.
