Chapter 110 No wonder Evelyn doesn't think highly of you
Evelyn took out the gift she had prepared from her bag. The gift box was small and inconspicuous.
Grandpa Doyle didn't ask Bruce to fetch it, nor did he reach out to take it himself. Instead, he looked at Dermot and said, "What are you standing there for? Hurry up and take it."
Everyone, "???"
Evelyn, "..."
Dermot helplessly thought, did they really have to be so obvious about him and Evelyn?
He walked over and took the gift box from Evelyn's hand, whispering, "Thank you."
"Never mind. It's for Grandpa Doyle, not for you," she replied.
Evelyn really didn't give Dermot any face, but he didn't mind. He was used to it anyway.
The gift box was placed in front of Grandpa Doyle. Without hesitation, he opened it, revealing an old watch in front of everyone's eyes.
A watch?
And it's this old?
Someone couldn't help but whisper, "Could it be that Evelyn didn't have enough money to buy a good gift, so she gave this old one instead?"
"I don't think so. I heard she's still Mr. Smith's disciple."
"After all, she's just an apprentice. It's normal for her to not have money."
Everyone was making fun of Evelyn. She had surely angered the Doyle family by giving Grandpa Doyle something old.
Natalie thought the same way. Even if Marina's trinket was not the best, at least it was new.
Evelyn, however, was even more outrageous, giving a gift that turned out to be old. Natalie couldn't help but speak up, "Ms. Kyte, It's Grandpa Doyle's birthday banquet. It's not appropriate to give someone a used item, right?"
"That's right. This is clearly disrespecting Grandpa Doyle," someone seconded. It was Natalie's close friend who had never liked Evelyn.
Evelyn's gaze swept over the two of them. Sometimes she couldn't help but feel that birds of a feather really do flock together. Natalie and her friend were indeed of the same nature, not only ignorant but also always trying to steal the limelight.
Evelyn remained silent, which in their eyes meant she agreed. This made the two of them very happy.
Marina, who was standing nearby, looked worried, afraid that Evelyn would anger the Doyle family. But then she remembered what the store clerk had said that day.
The trinket she received was a gift, and the store clerk said it would cost tens of millions or even billions to buy. This indicated that Evelyn's things were not of low value.
The only thing she wasn't sure of was whether the thing Evelyn bought that day was the watch in front of her.
"Dermot, Ms. Kyte's gift..." Marina started to say.
"Shut up!" Dermot interrupted her. He had never thought that Natalie would be so noisy. How could she have lost her basic etiquette after coming back from abroad?
Natalie's face changed. She bit her lip, and then...
However unwilling, she did not dare to speak again.
Seeing this, the girl next to her immediately stood up to support her, "Mr. Doyle, Natalie didn't say anything wrong, did she? Is Evelyn deliberately giving this to Grandpa Doyle?"
"If you ask me, she is definitely cursing Grandpa Doyle, she definitely has bad intentions."
The atmosphere escalated, and if Dermot didn't do something at this point, outsiders would say he was unfilial.
With a grim expression, Dermot didn't recognize the watch, but he knew that whatever Evelyn had brought out wouldn't be too shabby.
Everyone was waiting for Grandpa Doyle to get angry, but the person in question seemed to be completely absorbed by the watch, oblivious to the noisy surroundings.
Dermot also felt helpless, thinking, even if Grandpa want to indulge, couldn't he choose a more appropriate time? Shouldn't grandpa say something to Evelyn right now?
As if sensing his gaze, Grandpa Doyle looked dissatisfied and said, "If you can't even protect your own woman, no wonder Evelyn doesn't think highly of you."
Natalie and the others, "???"
Evelyn, "..."
