Chapter 593 Onboarding

In the midst of a languid phone conversation, Evelyn and Dermot found themselves separated by distance and a vast mansion. Within its opulent walls, a man of menacing countenance sat ensconced in a plush chair, his fingers idly flicking through images on his smartphone.

"Are we certain?" The man's voice was a gravelly rasp, directed at the bodyguard stationed at his side.

The bodyguard, his expression unchanging, nodded in affirmation. "It's confirmed. The elder was indeed a part of the group that severed ties with the Doyle family years ago. The man in the photo is his grandson. Rumor has it, he's quite competent and is carving out a reputation for himself in Morris City."

The man's face, already severe, darkened further as he powered off his phone. "What is the Patriarch thinking? Welcoming back those who abandoned the family - what's his game? Is he trying to curry favor with them because he believes the current members lack the necessary skills?"

The bodyguard remained silent, understanding that his role did not include speculation.

A bitter chuckle escaped the man's lips. "So, he's afraid of the family's decline and thinks these outsiders will be accepted? Well then, let's see how he plans to bring them back if they're dead."

His features twisted into a cruel sneer before settling into a sardonic smile. "Make the arrangements. I don't want any outsiders setting foot in Doyle territory."

The bodyguard nodded, his demeanor unflinching, as if matters of life and death were mere trivialities.

"Just before you leave," the man added, "the one we were discussing, they say he's the strongest of them all?"

"Yes, sir."

"Good. Ensure he doesn't return alive." The man's laughter was light, but a closer inspection would reveal the malicious glint in his eyes.

Meanwhile, at Kyte Corp, Evelyn and Lucia made their entrance.

"Ladies, Miss Kyte," the HR Director greeted them with a fawning smile, careful not to offend either woman.

Evelyn acknowledged him with a nod, while Lucia, her tone laced with disdain, asked, “Where’s my office? Which floor?”

"It's on the 17th floor," the HR Director responded.

Lucia seemed pleased with the answer. “Lead the way.”

The HR Director hesitated, his gaze darting between the two Kyte heiresses.

Sensing his predicament, Evelyn dismissed him with an indifferent shake of her head. "Which floor is HR? I'll handle the onboarding myself."

"Ma'am, there's no need to worry—the onboarding process is all set. Just head up to the 12th floor and look for Mr. Turner," the HR director assured her.

Lucia, however, was less than pleased with his continued conversation with Evelyn. "Didn't you hear me tell you to show me to my office? Or are you starting to think this job isn't for you?"

The HR director's face tightened, but he managed to suppress his irritation. "Of course, Ms. Garcia, please follow me."

He shot Evelyn an apologetic glance before leading Lucia to the 17th floor.

Despite both women being there for work, their chosen positions couldn't have been more different. Evelyn was starting as an entry-level employee, while Lucia was a manager—she had no intention of starting from the bottom like Evelyn. How else could she win people over if she did?

Winning people over was her sole mission at work.

Naturally, she was interested in influencing those who could be of use to her. As for the HR director, without a voice on the board, he wasn't even on her radar.
