Chapter 994: Has Evelyn Been Kidnapped
Half an hour later, Lisa and Geoffrey showed up in Derek's office.
"Evelyn went missing in the hospital?" Derek Bryant, the director of Golombia Hospital, adjusted his glasses, looking shocked.
Lisa nodded. "Yeah, we saw her head to the third floor, but the staff there said she never arrived. Howard also said he didn't see her leave. So, she's definitely missing."
"Could she have used the back door?" Derek asked, knowing the hospital had a back exit for staff.
"We checked with security; they didn't see her leave," Geoffrey replied.
Derek frowned, thinking they were overreacting.
Sensing his doubt, Geoffrey added, "Evelyn's phone is off, and she wasn't in good shape. We need to find her. What if something happened?"
Derek's concern grew. Evelyn wasn't just any doctor.
"Let's check the surveillance," Derek said, standing up.
Lisa and Geoffrey followed him to the monitoring room. They needed Derek's permission to access the footage.
In the monitoring room, Derek told the staff to pull up the footage of Evelyn entering the elevator.
They saw a few people approach Evelyn in the elevator, say something, and she followed them to the basement.
Though they couldn't hear the conversation, the expressions on their faces suggested something was wrong.
In the basement footage, they watched as Evelyn and the others exited the elevator, were forced into a black SUV, and disappeared.
"Derek, Evelyn's been kidnapped, right?" Lisa blurted out, shocked.
Derek's frown deepened. He had thought they were overreacting, but now it was clear something serious had happened.
"Don't worry about this, and don't talk about it. I'll handle it," Derek said, already dialing his phone.
Lisa wanted to ask more, but Geoffrey pulled her back and shook his head. "Let's go; leave it to Derek."
As they left the monitoring room, Lisa looked at him suspiciously. "Just like that? Aren't you worried about Evelyn?"
"I was worried she might have fainted somewhere. Now that we know she was taken, there's no need to worry," Geoffrey replied. Evelyn was part of the Kyte family; they didn't need to worry about her.
Lisa thought about it and agreed. "You're right. Let's go. I'm hungry."
"Okay, what do you want to eat?" Geoffrey smiled and led Lisa away. Evelyn's situation was no longer their concern.
Meanwhile, the Kyte family got the news.
Joshua immediately started looking for her, and Dermot also began searching.
That day, news of Evelyn's disappearance spread throughout Golombia. Some were anxious, some expectant, and others lurking in the shadows, ready to act.
Evelyn, however, knew nothing about this.
She felt groggy, her head aching, and had no idea where she was.
Her vision blurred, and she knew she could faint at any moment, but she held on.
If she fainted now, she feared she might not survive.
