Chapter 875 I Know You Have Feelings for Me
The news of Gerald getting shot dead caused a huge uproar in Golombia. Almost every major family beefed up security overnight to prevent any unexpected incidents.
After all, what happened to the Doyle family not only showed the arrogance of those people but also made the Doyles look weak, turning them into a laughingstock.
Because of this, Gerald's funeral was low-key. After a simple memorial service with some close friends and family, he was buried in the Doyle family's private cemetery. It seemed like the Doyle family wanted to sweep it under the rug, as they didn't even show any intention of going after the killer.
Everyone was curious about what the Doyle family meant by this. A living person was killed, and they were just going to let it slide?
At Golombia Hospital, Evelyn finished her rounds and walked into Dermot's room.
Despite being hospitalized for three days, Dermot still couldn't be discharged. After all, he had been shot and fallen off a cliff. Although he managed to grab onto some vines while sliding down, which prevented his falling off the cliff and death, he was still injured.
When she entered, Dermot was on the phone, seemingly giving instructions to someone on the other end. Evelyn was about to turn and leave when Dermot quickly hung up and smiled at her, saying, "You're here."
Evelyn nodded and walked over. "Let me check you out."
Although Dermot's primary doctor wasn't her, he had also injured his head when he fell off the cliff. As a co-treating physician, she had the duty to check on him.
Dermot didn't move and just lay there for her to examine.
After a while, Evelyn finished and said, "You're lucky. Even after all this, you're still fine. God must really like you."
Her words clearly showed some displeasure, which Dermot could tell, but he didn't mind. "I had prepared in advance. I wouldn't let anything happen to myself."
"What does that have to do with me?" Evelyn glanced at him as if to say she didn't need any explanation.
Dermot chuckled dryly. He knew Evelyn was angry because he hadn't informed her of his plan or considered the consequences.
But now that it had happened, he needed to think about how to make it up to her, rather than dwelling on what had already occurred.
With a couple of dry laughs, he said, "Evelyn, let me treat you to lunch."
"No need, thanks," Evelyn refused.
"Evelyn, I know you care about me. Craig told me that on the day of the incident, you went to the horse ranch to look for me." After learning about it, Dermot was even more certain of Evelyn's feelings and was determined not to let her go this time.
Evelyn pursed her lips. If she had known Dermot was prepared, she wouldn't have gone to look for him.
She glanced at Dermot, still a bit angry. "Who said I was looking for you? I was just there to have fun, can't I?"
"Alright then." Seeing she didn't want to admit it, Dermot didn't press the issue.
Evelyn actually had many questions in mind. Previously, because Dermot had just woken up and wasn't in good shape, she hadn't rushed to ask. Now that he seemed to be recovering well, she couldn't help but ask, "Why did you have to go since you clearly knew that Otis had bad intentions? I can't figure out why you insisted on going."
Dermot remained silent.
"If you don't want to say, forget it." Evelyn was a bit angry and turned to leave.
Dermot explained, "Evelyn, it's not that I don't want to say. I'm afraid you'll think I'm too despicable."
After all, it was about killing. Although Joshua did the deed, he was the mastermind.
Evelyn remained silent. She just pulled a chair over and sat by Dermot's bed, making her intentions clear.
