Chapter 719 The Past Doesn't Matter

With a cup of warm coffee down his throat, Dermot's agitation was slightly soothed. "Go ahead."

Evelyn nodded, sat up straight, and stared intently into Dermot's eyes. "You've lost your memory, haven't you?"

As soon as she said this, the corners of Dermot's eyes lifted instantly, and his gaze became more dangerous.

"I called Grandpa and Craig. From what they told me, I deduced that you've lost your memory." Before Dermot could speak, she continued.

She stared at him, trying to see if his expression had changed, but to her surprise, Dermot remained calm, with no significant emotional change.

They were silent.

Not knowing how much time had passed, Evelyn began to lose her patience. "Why aren't you answering my question?"

"I just find you a bit ridiculous and don't know what to say." Dermot sneered, his tone full of sarcasm.

He leaned slightly forward, resting on the table. "Memory loss? Have you been watching too many TV dramas, or is there something wrong with your brain? How could you say something so ridiculous?"

"Ridiculous?" Evelyn retorted. Dermot's reaction only confirmed her suspicion. "When I first came to this conclusion, I also found it ridiculous, even unbelievable."

"But the more I analyzed, the more certain I became that you have indeed lost your memory."

"That's why you haven't returned to Moris City. You're afraid Grandpa will notice something, and you don't dare to interact too much with people from your past. You're afraid of being found out."

Even with her, Dermot kept his distance.

He remained silent, clearly trying to brush it off, but she wouldn't give him the chance. "If you haven't lost your memory, then tell me, where did we first meet? What happened that day?"

She was sure that even if Dermot had investigated his past, he wouldn't have looked into such trivial matters, so if he had really lost his memory, he probably wouldn't know.

Dermot's brow furrowed, which indicated a hint of anger. "Why should I prove anything to you? Evelyn, who do you think you are to me?"

"You don't need to prove anything to me because I've already confirmed it." Dermot didn't answer directly, and Evelyn wasn't surprised and she already knew the answer.

She took a deep breath, organized her thoughts, and spoke again. "The reason I came to you is not to prove anything but to tell you some facts."

"You've lost your memory, so you believe Margaret's words. You think your past feelings for me were due to psychological issues. But is that really the case?"

"Whether you like me or not isn't important. What's important is that I want to remind you, don't get deceived by Margaret. She took advantage of your memory loss to tell you those things..."

"Have you said enough?"

Before Evelyn could finish, Dermot interrupted her with a cold laugh. "You've said all this just to prove that I genuinely liked you, and it wasn't due to psychological issues, right?"

"I just hope..."

"Whether I genuinely liked you before doesn't matter. What matters is that I really don't like you now." Especially now, as he tried hard to keep his memory loss a secret, only for Evelyn to expose it. Naturally, he wasn't happy.

With these words, Evelyn swallowed back what she was about to say.

She looked at Dermot, and she could be sure that, at this moment, Dermot wasn't lying.

After a moment of silence, Evelyn smiled, "You're right. None of that matters anymore."

Whether he liked her or not, Dermot didn't care about any of it now.
