Chapter 1078: The Baby Is Mine
In Joshua's room, he couldn't hear Evelyn and Dermot anymore, but Dermot's smile suggested they were having a good time.
Joshua's mood soured instantly.
"Mr. Garcia, take a rest," Brandon said, knowing what Joshua was thinking but unable to help.
Joshua nodded, got up from his wheelchair, and lay down on the bed. As Brandon was leaving, Joshua said, "Set up a meeting with Dermot for tomorrow."
"You want to meet him?" Brandon was puzzled.
"Yeah," Joshua replied, already planning his next move. He needed an excuse for his upcoming trip abroad.
Brandon didn't ask more questions. He knew Joshua had his reasons and just followed orders.
At a café, Evelyn met Phoebe during her lunch break. Phoebe was confused by the sudden invite but went anyway.
After sitting down, Evelyn ordered juice for Phoebe. "Some people avoid coffee during pregnancy, so I got you juice."
"Thanks," Phoebe said, surprised by Evelyn's thoughtfulness. She avoided coffee even though her doctor said it was fine.
As she drank, she wondered what Evelyn wanted.
Evelyn noticed Phoebe's nervousness and sighed. Phoebe had changed.
"Dr. Kyte, what do you want to talk about?" Phoebe finally asked.
Evelyn put down her coffee. "Is the baby Aidan's?"
Phoebe was stunned by the direct question.
"Why would you ask that?" Phoebe nervously sipped her drink.
Evelyn had already guessed. "Craig told me everything yesterday."
Phoebe's expression froze, looking displeased.
"He's a good brother and cares about you," Evelyn admitted.
Phoebe didn't deny it but asked, "What do you want to say?"
"Aren't you going to tell Aidan about the baby?" Evelyn asked.
Phoebe shook her head. "The baby is mine. Why should I tell anyone else?"
"But it's Aidan's baby too, right?" Evelyn pressed, looking for a reaction but found none.
Phoebe's face darkened. "My baby has nothing to do with him."
"Are you really planning to have the baby?" Evelyn asked.
"Of course," Phoebe nodded firmly.
Evelyn was at a loss for words. It was clear Phoebe intended to raise the baby alone. Evelyn admired her but also felt sorry for the unborn child.
