Chapter 1339 Extra: Aidan and Phoebe (14)

Brittany bounced, and Evelyn turned to Phoebe. "Don't let her get to you."

"Yeah, whatever. I didn't even care in the first place." Phoebe had always brushed off Brittany, and today was no different.

After all the crap she'd been through, she had her priorities straight.

Even if her dad had said that stuff, Phoebe wouldn't have given a damn.

Evelyn felt a weight lift off her shoulders. "So, you're really not going back to the Irvine family?"

Yesterday, Craig had hit up Dermot, asking her to talk Phoebe into returning to the Irvine clan.

Evelyn didn't commit, but she figured she'd ask Phoebe anyway.

"Yeah, I never felt like I belonged there. I'm good where I'm at." Phoebe was loving her new life.

Evelyn could see she meant it, so she decided to drop the whole persuasion thing for Craig. "The Irvine family ain't all that. Being Aidan's wife is way better," Evelyn joked.

"Evelyn." Phoebe's cheeks turned red, not sure why Evelyn brought it up again.

Evelyn let it go and switched topics. "This dress is killer. You should totally wear it to the baby shower."

"Okay." Maybe Brittany's earlier jab had pushed her, but Phoebe, who had been on the fence, agreed right away.

With the dress sorted, they decided to grab dinner at the mall before heading back.

Just as they found a spot to eat, Dermot called. Since tying the knot, Dermot was hardly ever away from Evelyn. Whenever he had a free moment, he'd come find her, just like now.

When Dermot found out Evelyn was having dinner with Phoebe, he hung up and said he'd join them. Evelyn couldn't figure out why Dermot was so into hanging out with her.

"You two are still all lovey-dovey. Marriage hasn't changed a thing." Even though Evelyn complained about Dermot being clingy, Phoebe could tell she was actually thrilled.

Evelyn put her phone away and grinned. "Yeah, we haven't been married that long."

If their love fizzled out this quick, how would they make it through the years ahead?

"He insists on joining us. Why not invite Aidan too?" Evelyn was worried Phoebe might feel awkward later.

"No need, Aidan's super busy." Phoebe quickly waved it off, not wanting to bother Aidan.

She didn't get his business, but seeing him come home late and often skip meals, she worried about him.

Thinking about it made Phoebe uneasy. "Evelyn, if you get a chance, you should talk to Aidan. Skipping dinner all the time is bad for him."

Evelyn hadn't known about this. When Phoebe turned down her suggestion, she decided not to call Aidan. But now she quickly dialed his number. "If he's missing dinner, we gotta make sure he eats."

Phoebe wanted to say something, but Evelyn had already connected with Aidan.

"Aidan, you done with work?" Evelyn was on the phone, winking at Phoebe, signaling her not to worry.

Phoebe stayed quiet but felt a bit happy inside.

Evelyn said, "Come join us for dinner. I'll send you the location. Even if you're not done with work, you need to come eat, or I'll be pissed."

In the end, Evelyn got Aidan to come over.
