Chapter 690: What Are You Doing Here?

Chapter 690: What Are You Doing Here?

"I'm her best friend, so I should be the one to thank you. After all, Ruby doesn't know you that well," Evelyn said as she walked up and picked Ruby up from the bed.

For someone who worked out, lifting Ruby wasn't a big deal and seemed quite easy.

Evelyn's remark hit Craig like a blow to the face, causing his expression to darken. "If you were truly her friend, you should have shielded her from this situation instead of allowing her to get into it.""

Evelyn fell silent. She had been careless today. She didn't expect anyone to dare pull such a sleazy trick at the Kyte family banquet.

Glancing at the still-unconscious rich scion, Evelyn said coldly, "I'll make sure Ruby gets her revenge for this, so you don't need to worry."

With that, Evelyn left with Ruby in her arms, not caring whether Craig was happy or not.

Even long after they had left, Craig remained in the room, his face dark with unspent anger.

The next moment, his gaze landed on the still-unconscious wealthy heir. Without hesitation, he strode over and delivered a few more kicks, releasing some of his pent-up anger.

Evelyn didn't take Ruby far; she simply arranged for her to rest in another room at the hotel.

After taking care of everything, Evelyn finally had time to call Blake. After the brief explanation, her tone turned cold. "If this gets out, you know how badly it will affect the Kyte family."

"I understand your meaning. Don't worry, I'll handle it," Blake replied, his tone also not very pleasant. Maybe he was very angry as well.

Someone dared to cause trouble at such an event today, blatantly disrespecting the Kyte family. The family may have been small and seemingly insignificant, but they displayed audacity by acting recklessly and overstepping their bounds.

Evelyn didn't ask Blake how he planned to handle it. That rich scion would likely never have the chance to appear in Golombia again.

Looking at the sleeping Ruby, Evelyn felt a bit worried. She dialed the hotel staff on her phone, requesting for a doctor to be brought up.

Before long, the doctor arrived, but he wasn't alone, Dermot was with him.

Evelyn was puzzled. "What are you doing here?"

"What happened? Why did you call a doctor?" Dermot's tone was somewhat frantic, though he might not have realized it himself.

However, Evelyn had noticed it. Her suspicions deepened as Dermot's actions did not align with what he had previously disclosed about himself.

Could Dermot have a split personality?

She ignored Dermot, just led the doctor inside to check on Ruby. Once the doctor confirmed that Ruby was just unconscious and would wake up soon, she felt relieved and let the doctor leave.

"Mr. Doyle, as you can see, I'm fine. It's my friend who had an issue," Evelyn said, her eyes fixed on Dermot.

Dermot saw Ruby too, but due to his amnesia, he didn't recognize her. Even if he investigated his past, he wouldn't know who Evelyn's friends were.

He responded calmly, "As long as you're okay."

"No, it's not okay at all," Evelyn said, looking at him. "Ruby is my friend. If something happens to her, it's like it happened to me. Naturally, I'm not okay.."

"Are you two really that close?" Dermot found it strange. Were there really friends that close in this world?

He recalled having a friend named Craig. However, due to his amnesia, he felt apathetic upon seeing Craig again, lacking any profound sense of brotherhood.

Hearing this, Evelyn's gaze at Dermot grew even more peculiar. "We've always been very close. This isn't news to you."

Evelyn kept her eyes on Dermot, not missing his momentary look of confusion.

She felt something off.
