Chapter 774 I Believe Evelyn
Wade remained silent for a long time, and the brief silence filled Lucia's heart with endless imagination.
Lucia thought, 'Maybe Wade is also hesitating; he must have felt my efforts during this time.'
Lucia was filled with hope, and her eyes showed a bit of excitement.
Wade clearly saw the change in her expression and couldn't help but laugh, "You don't think I'd be reluctant, do you?"
Lucia was stunned. Her face, which had just regained some color, went pale in an instant.
"In a few days, I will announce the cancellation of our engagement, and then you can leave here," Wade told her.
Lucia felt a chill all over her body. She clearly sensed the mockery in his eyes.
She tried hard to control herself, not to lose her composure too much. Perhaps because of all the things she had experienced, she had unknowingly become more mature.
After a while, she took a deep breath, "Fine, let's do as you say."
After that, Lucia turned and went back to her room, the only place that belonged to her in this villa.
But soon, she wouldn't even be able to keep this small room.
Lucia couldn't hold back and cried into her pillow. Even so, she had to control herself carefully, not to cry too loudly, lest Wade find out.
Wade watched Lucia return to her room, and felt somewhat surprised. He had thought Lucia would cry and beg him not to cancel the engagement.
He had thought it would take more effort to resolve this matter, but it turned out to be so easy. At this moment, Wade felt a bit unreal, even somewhat annoyed.
The next day, Evelyn contacted various departments for a consultation regarding Dermot's condition.
After their discussion, they finally decided on the surgical plan and the surgery date. Evelyn had the hospital staff notify Dermot, rather than contact him herself.
Mainly, Evelyn didn't want to have any contact with Dermot beyond the surgery. If it was something others could do, she wouldn't handle it herself.
Dermot received the call and had no objections, but he felt a bit uncomfortable that Evelyn didn't contact him personally.
He thought, 'Evelyn really doesn't want to have any more entanglements with me.'
"Was the hospital calling to notify you of the surgery time?" Margaret, who was sitting across from him, could roughly guess the conversation from Dermot's talk on the phone.
Dermot replied, "Yes."
Margaret lowered her head, a hint of gloominess flashing in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared. She asked, "Are you sure? I heard this surgery is quite risky. If something goes wrong, you could be paralyzed."
"I trust Evelyn," Dermot said.
Margaret's hand under the table tightened unconsciously, but she still tried to maintain a smile, "Really? I've also heard of Dr. Kyte's reputation. They say her surgeries have never failed. You have a reason to trust her."
Dermot didn't say anything. Because of his amnesia, he didn't remember anything about Evelyn, but he just inexplicably trusted her, perhaps just because she was Evelyn.
"I just think that your current mental state is very normal. If you insist on regaining your memory, it might have some impact on your current situation," Margaret expressed her concern.
Margaret had actually mentioned all these to Dermot before, but he didn't listen.
However, it didn't stop Margaret from continuing the topic now, mainly because she really didn't want Dermot to undergo the surgery.
She wasn't sure if Dermot's feelings for Evelyn were due to psychological reasons or if he genuinely liked Evelyn.
But either way, Dermot regaining his memory at this time was obviously not a good thing for Margaret, especially since her relationship with Dermot hadn't made much progress.
