Chapter 821 Am I Supposed to Be Afraid of Her?
When Craig questioned her, Evelyn didn't argue. She knew he was right, especially tonight; no one wanted any more surprises.
Just when Craig thought Evelyn had agreed, she said, "I'll take Ruby back myself."
Craig went silent.
He watched as Ruby and Evelyn got into Joshua's car and drove off.
Fuming, Craig turned to Dermot. "What's your problem? Can't you keep Evelyn in check?"
Dermot rolled his eyes. "If you're so great, why don't you get Ruby to go with you?"
“Dermot!” Craig snapped, but words failed him.
Dermot walked over and patted his shoulder. "Come on. We're just the same; no one's better than anyone else."
"Don't be joking? At least Ruby doesn't have other guys around," Craig shot back.
Dermot's face darkened.
Not only was Joshua around Evelyn now, but Otis was also eyeing her, and who knew how many other guys were eyeing her? The more Dermot thought about it, the more it gave him a headache.
"Let's go grab a drink," Craig suggested, feeling a bit better seeing Dermot's sour mood.
Dermot didn't object; a drink sounded good.
Outside the Diaz Manor, in Hubert's car, Natalie looked anxiously at Hubert, who was smoking and lost in thought.
"Hubert, I didn't mean it. I just said it casually," Natalie pleaded. She didn't particularly like Hubert, but he was the most powerful guy she could get close to, so she wasn't about to let him go.
Hubert glanced at her and put out his cigarette. "Didn't mean it? Do you think I'm an idiot?"
"Hubert," she started again.
"Go inside, pack your stuff, and get out of my sight," Hubert said.
Natalie was shocked. "You're kicking me out because of Evelyn?"
"Because of Evelyn? Do you really think you compare to her?" Hubert sneered. He couldn't believe where she got the nerve to look down on Evelyn.
Natalie gritted her teeth, unwilling to give up. "I can't compare to her, but you can't just kick me out over one thing she said."
"Be grateful I didn't kill you to apologize to Evelyn. That's already being lenient." Although Evelyn hadn't explicitly said it, Hubert could tell she was very displeased with Natalie and wanted him to deal with her.
But Hubert actually had some feelings for Natalie, more than for other women, so just making her leave was already merciful.
Natalie looked at him, speechless.
During her time with Hubert, she thought she had him figured out, but now she realized he was much harder to handle than those people in Moris City.
After a moment, Natalie started crying softly. "Hubert, I know I was wrong. Please let me stay with you. I promise I'll never appear in front of Evelyn again."
"I really love you. Even if I have no status, I'm willing to stay with you. Just let me stay," she said pitifully, with deep affection in her eyes.
Hubert looked at her and, for a moment, felt a bit reluctant.
Seeing his hesitation, Natalie added, "Besides, the Diaz family and the Kyte family are both top ten families. Why should you kick me out just because Evelyn doesn't like me? Doesn't that show you're afraid of her?"
"Afraid of her?" Hubert scoffed. He didn't like the sound of that.
