Chapter 794 He Deserved to Die
When Joshua arrived at the hospital, Evelyn was still watching over Blake in the ward. She was visibly surprised to see him and then asked, "Already taken care of?"
"Yeah, we got them all." Joshua nodded, then added, "But that David was accidentally killed when he resisted."
"Well, someone like him deserves it." Evelyn had no doubts about it. David wouldn't have surrendered so easily.
Joshua noticed she didn't suspect anything. A strange look flashed in his eyes but it soon vanished. "How's Mr. Kyte doing?"
"He's fine and just needs a few days in the hospital," Evelyn replied.
Joshua didn't leave and stayed in the ward with Evelyn to watch over Blake.
Downstairs, in Dermot's ward, Craig noticed Dermot was in a bad mood and kindly said, "The Kyte family had some trouble. It's normal that she doesn't have time to visit you."
"You don't need to comfort me. I know it all too well." He understood that after everything, Evelyn was probably completely disappointed in him.
In fact, let alone Evelyn, he was disappointed in himself.
Dermot thought, 'Why do I have to lose my memory? Without that, I would probably be with Evelyn by now.'
At the thought of it, the pain in his heart grew stronger.
"I'm not comforting you. Blake was kidnapped by the mercenaries hired by the Roberts family and was shot. He's in a ward upstairs," Craig explained as he handed over his phone, which still had news about Blake and Wade's kidnapping.
Dermot frowned, then took the phone and was indeed surprised by the news. He asked, "When did it happen?"
"The night of your surgery," Craig said.
Dermot was a bit annoyed, feeling that Craig should have told him immediately, but then he remembered he was also in the hospital, and Craig probably didn't want him to worry.
"How's the situation?" he sighed and asked.
"It shouldn't be severe. I asked the doctor; it's just blood loss. With some rest, he'll be fine." Craig had already inquired, knowing Dermot would be concerned.
Dermot nodded, relieved that everything was okay. If something had happened and he couldn't help, he would have felt incredibly guilty.
"Thank you," he said, expressing his gratitude to Craig.
Craig shook his head, unconcerned. "No need to say that between us."
Hearing this, Dermot didn't say more.
At that moment, the door opened, and Margaret walked in with lunch. "Dermot, I asked the doctor, and they said you can eat something now. It's all light food, so you can have it."
With that, she walked to the bedside and took out the food she brought.
"You should eat first. I have some matters to attend to at the company, so I'll head over." Craig didn't stay to disturb them. Dermot had to resolve those things himself.
He quickly left, and Margaret sat by the bed, picking up a spoon to feed Dermot. "Here, have some soup first."
"No need. Just leave it here. I'll eat it later." Dermot refused. Perhaps because he had regained his memory, he no longer had any good feelings towards Margaret.
Upon seeing this, Margaret didn't insist. She put down the bowl but didn't leave. "I know what you're thinking, you feel like I deceived you, right?"
Dermot didn't speak, but he did have that thought.
Margaret said, "Psychology is a very complex field. It's not easy to know others's thought. My previous judgment about you might have been wrong, but can you say your feelings for Evelyn are completely normal?"
"I remember you said before that you had a strong desire to control her, couldn't stand any man around her, and wanted to keep her by your side. These are signs of psychological issues," she added.
She continued, "Maybe your feelings for her weren't initially due to psychological problems, but later on, you were definitely influenced by them. So, I don't think my judgment was entirely wrong."
