Chapter 1004 Out of Sight, Out of Mind
"Yeah, are you blaming me?" Dermot wanted to laugh but couldn't.
How long had it been? Just because Joshua got hurt, Evelyn was defending him like this?
Evelyn opened her mouth but stayed silent. She looked at Aidan. "Aidan, Joshua just woke up. Why are you talking to him like that? If something happens to him because of this..."
"What gives him the right to make demands just because he saved your life?" Aidan regretted bringing Joshua back from abroad more and more.
But if Joshua hadn't come back, Evelyn would have been the one hurt yesterday, and that wasn't what he wanted.
Evelyn sighed, "Aidan, Joshua didn't ask me for anything. I did it on my own."
"You're lying. I heard him make the request." Dermot chimed in. If Joshua hadn't asked, why would Evelyn agree?
Evelyn glared at him. "Can't you just shut up?"
Dermot pressed his lips together and stayed quiet.
"Evelyn, I get that you're grateful and want to repay him, but there are other ways. Worst case, I'll take care of him for life, but you shouldn't sacrifice your future." Aidan sighed, trying to persuade her.
Evelyn shook her head. "Aidan, I get it, but Joshua ended up like this because of me. Even if we take care of him financially, we can't fix his heart."
She knew Joshua liked her and understood why he wanted her around. It was to make him feel better.
Evelyn knew the request was unreasonable, but she couldn't say no.
"Do you really care what he thinks? Dr. Kyte, you must be a great doctor," Dermot said sarcastically, thinking Evelyn was being nosy.
Evelyn rolled her eyes, not bothering to respond.
"Evelyn, have you thought about the fact that if he's in a wheelchair for life, you'll have to take care of him forever? Your life will be ruined!" Aidan still couldn't accept it.
Evelyn gritted her teeth. She hadn't thought about it at first, but later she realized, "I know, but if Joshua hadn't saved me, I might have died that day."
Although she couldn't pursue her happiness, she was still alive, wasn't she?
"Stubborn!" Dermot couldn't hold back.
"Dermot!" Evelyn snapped, "Shut up."
"Why should I listen to you? You're not my lover." Dermot didn't care. Just thinking about Evelyn staying with Joshua made him angry.
The fact that he was still holding back was already quite good.
Evelyn said helplessly, "You're right. We have nothing to do with each other. I can't tell you what to say, and you can't tell me what to do."
"Evelyn!" Dermot was angry. He stood up and glared at her.
Evelyn met his gaze. Both were angry, neither backing down.
Aidan felt a headache coming on. "Alright, let's talk about this later. I'll contact the doctor first."
The best solution was to get Joshua to recover. That way, everyone would be happy.
Dermot snorted and left the hospital. He couldn't stand watching Evelyn take care of Joshua. Otherwise, he might lose control and start a fight.
